When will it happen ?
Gogue said that Auburn has made it clear to the league that it would be happy to move to the SEC East to be able to play old rivalries on an annual basis with Tennessee and Florida. The president added that he would personally like to see the Tigers move from the SEC West to the SEC East because a significant portion of Auburn’s out-of-state population is from the SEC East states of Georgia, Florida and Tennessee.
“Auburn has made it very clear for the last two or three years if it will help the conference for us to go to the East we are willing to go to the East,” Gogue said. “I don’t know if it is dead, but I don’t believe you are going see it come firing out of there in the next year or two as a discussion point.
“There is a lot of logic, in my judgement, for us to be there (East),” Gogue added. “Some people would argue that Auburn and LSU and Auburn vs. Arkansas are pretty big rivalries and if we went to the East in the current format you would play (those games) only very sporadically like we are doing with Tennessee and Florida.”
Gogue also noted that Missouri would like to trade places with Auburn and move to the SEC West. The AU president said part of the reason why there is resistance to Auburn moving to the SEC East is because the Auburn-Alabama game and the Tennessee-Alabama game are two of the biggest of the year for the league and one of those wouldn’t be played annually with the current 6-1-1 schedule format that the presidents recently voted to maintain.

Why would they not go head to head with Bama if they moved to the east?

He is one of the Bama fans that think the UT game is still important.

It won't.
1)Either IB or TSIO would end.
2)You'd have 4 of the big 6 in one division.
Soo, if you go that route you'd essentially just have to move UT to the west. So what's the benefit of that? The big 2 rivalries would still be preserved and you'd still have a 3/3 split...which is exactly how it already is.

never, it would benefit no other team except maybe Mizzou.

There was talk of Auburn moving to the East during this latest expansion. The article I read said bama and LSU would have none of it.

The east will be much easier to win. We should do it.
