So they're not going to fire Ferentz but they are going to steal Bielema from us. Got it.

They will fire him next season if it's anything like this one. Iowa was supposed to start this year 9-0 easy but instead got embarrassed over and over culminating in a humiliating bowl blowout. The fanbase is antsy and far too frustrated and the AD can't ignore it anymore. Iowa is one of the best traveling bowl teams and the fans made a statement today by not showing up. Ferentz is officially on the hot seat and fighting for his job like he should have been 3 years ago.

That's a cool story. I think I saw a 30 for 30 about it.

I'm sure Bielema was just using Arkansas as a stepping stone to get from Wisconsin to Iowa. We'll start looking for a new coach asap. And we probably won't be able to find one so we may as well shut down our football program.

It's more likely he was getting away from Alvarez like his successor at Wisconsin who just bolted for Oregon State of all places.

I'm sure Arkansas would replace him with somebody should the need arise. Arkansas has been hiring great coaches for every sport. Not sure why you're getting so defensive at something so logical. It's basically a foregone conclusion that Iowa would make a serious run and it's not like Arkansas is some elite football coaching destination that's immune to having coaches hired away.

I don't think he will leave. He has less expectations now than he would at Iowa. I mean he just went 7-6, and they want to give him a lifetime contract.

This couldn't be further from the truth. Midway through the season, he was close to hot seat status going into next year if we didn't win some of those games

ahem..... actually.

Since the hiring of Frank Broyles in the 1950's not one football coach has left on his own volition, being hired away by another school. Since Godfather Frank became AD only Eddie Sutton walked away, well, crawled away from Fayetteville and he landed UK on probation like all their coaches do. No Baseball or Track coach has been hired away by other schools either.

While at Iowa with the current administration he could take Iowa to one Rose Bowl, a few outback bowls and be safe for the next decade. Why wouldn't he take the same pay with less pressure and an easier schedule at somewhere he is comfortable?

I don't think he'll leave here without winning the SEC at least once. Doesn't seem like the type to quit midway through something. If he never reaches that pinnacle I'd imagine he'd be fired eventually

If Bert or any coach wins the SEC in football they would be the best coach in the country and leaving for somewhere a lot better than Iowa, like the NFL.

That's another reason for him to go to Iowa, much easier path to a CC and back to the Rose Bowl he loves so much.

Bob/mark stoops to iowa. Bert is staying until he wins a national title than maybe he goes to the NFL, so he probably is gone by 2019.

That guy is crying about Arkansas all over the board. It's very odd.

If coaches cared about job security they wouldn't become coaches now should they. Maybe he wants to prove he can win against the toughest conference in the country. Most coaches are driven to success in ways most people can't understand. They're driven to prove themselves on the biggest stages against the toughest opponents.

Maybe he leaves, maybe not. He'll leave eventually. Nothing is permanent. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

That was my point. He wants to succeed. The plateu of success for Arkansas in the SEC is lower than what Iowa can and has achieved in the B1G

He'll be at Arky for a very long time then. Maybe he can transfer to the track team to coach the exercisers and then jump to the NFL.

Meyer-Harbaugh are a better coaching 1-2 than any duo in the SEC, plus he'd have superior athletes at Arkansas

Maybe so, but top to bottom the SEC is much more difficult. 12/14 teams can beat you in any given week. OSU had no real competition in the B1G this season. The B1G has always been very top heavy. If you can put together a team that can hang with the top 2-3 teams then you have it made.

Maybe for has beens and coaches running away from a bad situation at their last school.
Wisconsin's coach just left for Oregon State. It's pretty obvious now that Bielema didn't come to Arkansas because it was a destination.
