I figure somebody else, with Malzahn as assistant OC after he flames out at Auburn.

No way would we hire the Redzone Retard!

Not Even just as an OC. That ship sailed away already.

We already had Malazahn as an OC, lost a bowl game to Wisconsin just like Auburn as a result.

When Iowa finally fires Ferentz next season and calls Bielema back home?

I imagine Jones/Tyson/Walton's of Arky can outbid the Hawkeyes if they should so choose...

Iowa could hold their own in a bidding war. I mean, Ferentz is the 9th highest paid coach right now and was top 3 I think at the time he signed his contract. Iowa is #11 in athletic revenue (ahead of Arkansas). For Arkansas to pay Bielema enough that Iowa couldn't match would be an unreasonable amount and Iowa could probably get away with offering less than Arky anyway being his alma mater and all

Why can't I root for Auburn and Iowa? The two teams have never played in football or even basketball as far as I can tell. I'm Auburn first and foremost over anything and if they ever did play I would root for Auburn without hesitation but I grew up watching Iowa too.

I have multiple loyalties as well and always have. I make no apologies.

LSU comes first and foremost and it isn't even close. The other teams I pull for are entirely due to some familial connection or where I happen to live. So Oregon State is #2 right now. My parents both graduated from Iowa State as did several of my other blood relatives so I pull for the Clones as well. Also have a few relatives that graduated from Iowa.

Took special joy wearing an Iowa State shirt in a bar in Mt. Vernon, Iowa (15 minutes from Iowa City) back in October -- was in town for a wedding. Pretty damn sad that Iowa lost to ISU this year. Almost as bad as Mizzou losing to Indiana.

Iowa will still have to pay a couple mill a year until 2020 for Ferentz buyout I believe , and pay Bielema's at Arkansas, another 2.5

here it is, lol

@darrenrovell: If Iowa fired Ferentz now, it would owe him $221,875 PER MONTH for 60 months ($13,312,500). Amount DOESN'T reduce if he got another job

What is Bielemas buyout like? Iowa has money and would be content with one of the Stoops brothers if they don't land Bielema.

The main thing holding Iowa back from firing Ferentz isn't money or his buyout, it's that all the head guys in the AD and all the old money boosters remember the 70's pre Hayden Fry when Iowa was Kansas bad and they are content paying for mediocrity as long as they make bowl games almost every year. That's the reason for the huge contract after the Orange Bowl win in 2009. I don't think there is an Iowa fan under age 50 that hasn't wanted Ferentz gone for at least a year if not more.

You sail pretty well. You sure Arkansas isn't one of your other loyalties?

Why are folks wanting Iowa to hire ol' Bert?

Me thinks the fear is real.

Everybody knows Bielema is a good coach by now. He's going to create havoc for the top teams while he's at Arkansas, but it's still just Arkansas.

I think the real fear is from Arkansas fans who know its a real possibility that they could lose their coach to Iowa

I think Bielema and Les Miles are just such good fits for their respective schools and states. I don't see either leaving for another college job unless fired.

I don't think he will leave. He has less expectations now than he would at Iowa. I mean he just went 7-6, and they want to give him a lifetime contract.
