He is simply trying to save his job by doing what he thinks the temperamental fan base wants him to do. Alleva is focused on PR, not football or problem solving.

I think this is a great idea actually. Then if either team needs the game to get into the SEC Champ game still on 11/13...then you figure out how to play it on 11/19...at the stadium of the team who doesn't need the game or if both teams need it then it is in Gainesville.

This is why LSU did everything in its might to get the game played this past Saturday - Monday.
LSU/Florida was scheduled for this weekend and Sankey needed to force the damn game this weekend. We make a schedule for a reason. His arse should be fired

This game ain't getting played, I'm afraid. Foley stood his ground and refused to move a home game, and now Alleva is doing the same thing. The Cocktail Party is not going to get moved, way too much money tied into that game. The SECCG isn't getting moved either because the NCAA is not pushing back bowl and playoff selections because of one game. That would also be a very expensive reschedule. The SEC also is not going to force other teams to take a hit because of this game either by moving games around to accommodate.
Basically, these ADs are at a standstill. Sankey is powerless to force teams to cancel OOC games. He only has the power to cancel/reschedule conference games, per SEC bylaws. At the end of the day, the fault in all of this falls at Sankey's feet. Sure Foley may have been being unreasonable, but Sankey could have forced the game to be played Sunday or Monday, but he didn't. This is what happened as a result. It sucks, but it is what it is at this point.
ETA: I don't think Alleva was suggesting Alabama actually do that. Think he was just trying to make a point that what's being requested of LSU is unreasonable.

I agree. Just pointing out that he didn't say Alabama has to play 13 games.
There is no other way for Bama to play on their only bye week and not end up playing 13 regular season games.

So If LSU doesn't have a bi then no other team gets a bi before playing them. Did LSU opponent this week get a bi last week because LSU did last week? What a stupid statement.
