I've alway thought if you go the juco route you don't have ti sit out or lose any playing time?

Piss off Aubie! Worry about your own shitty QBs!

Personally I'm not a fan of all the transferring going on, but at QB it's hard not to understand it. If you aren't the starter than you ride the pine until the starter gets hurt. You don't get to work hard in practice to get into a position rotation that can sustain multiple players. Or even on the special teams squad.

Also, once the starter is picked that's the scheme the O is going with. Yes Hurts can get hurt, but the O isn't set up for a pro-style QB like Barnett to easily just get plugged in. Setting him up for failure on one of those must viewed teams in the country. Rapid fanbase that doesn't comprehend why he fails. To much pressure. OSU was able to win the NC a few years ago cause they had 3 QBS that were great in the same scheme. One goes down, and just plug in the next guy. Most programs go for a mix of QB styles, and O directions change up to much to be able to easily pull off what Meyer was able to. Kelley was able to do it at Oregon. Briles at Baylor.

Don't blame the kid for leaving now.

Only surprise is that this doesn't happen more often. Given a team full of stars, with top recruiting class after top recruiting. It's got to be tough knowing you could be show casing you're talent elsewhere.

For many of these kids this is their career path, a means to an end, besides garnering an education and four more (glory) years of being big man on campus. What are you to do? You're plumb full of testosterone, every swinging-dick that's ever been to your house has built up your self worth, massaged your ego, and even lied in some cases about how needed you are. And then the realization set;s in... damn I could be on TV, I could be playing, not a chance to maybe start in another year or two, but right now if I had of gone with XYZ. The moment of truth is that riding the pine at Team-X is all that I signed up for here (at least for a few years) and leaving while still young enough (years left) is more attractive than hopefully given a handout job from some legacy CEO. It's being proactive once you see the hand writing on the wall. ... And truth is how many of you have a degree from the same school you originally intended?

Not to say that Barnett is as mobile as Hurts (because he isnt), but if i recall correctly he was the #1 dual threat QB coming out of high school. He was never billed as a pure pocket-passing QB.

This one stings... if he had stayed and something happened to Jalen, i think we would have been able to slot him in well. But now with Bateman as the backup, the scheme would definitely have to change to accommodate his lack of mobility.

Bateman is faster than Hurts, and got practice time at WR a couple of years ago. He's not as good of a runner as Hurts, but he's certainly not immobile.

Geez wtf. 4 games into the season and he quits? Does he gain anything by transferring now instead of at the end of the year?

If he does transfer, it means 4 of the top 6 QBs from that class will end up transferring.

So he should wait 4 years to play? He'd be like a 7th year senior, lol

No way in hell the loser of that freshman qb battle was going to wait even 3 years to play. They're both too talented to do that. I said as much, several times, on this and the Alabama board. Anybody should have known that.

How does it feel knowing that Alabama has 2 quarterbacks that could start for nearly every SEC team, and your team hasn't had even one in several years now.
