Timing is weird. Like he gave up and quit.
Yeah, he was really excited before the USC game on his twitter. But after the game, he just tweeted out a bible verse, 2 Corinthians 1:9 - "Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead".

I wish him luck in the future. I was on the Barnett bandwagon before the season.

It makes no sense. If Hurts goes down this year, he had a chance to takeover and take the job. Now, he is useless until fall of 2018. Makes no sense to leave now

18-19 year olds don't always make the best decisions.

He's lost the QB competition and anybody that's watched them both play knows he isn't getting it back. Probably the first time in his life he didn't get what he wanted so he took his toys and went home.

Sucks from a depth perspective, but if there's any up side Bateman's game is closer to Hurts than Barnett's so should something happen to Hurts the offense wouldn't have to be revamped to fit a different skill set.

I remember how mad some of you got when I said this would happen after Hurts takes the job.

The transfer thing is just all over the place. Was it always this bad? No patience at all with the kids now a days.

Not really a good example to wax curmudgeonly about -- Hurts is a true freshman, right? If he improves, that's a minimum of three years on the bench for Barnett. Guy deserves to go somewhere he'll have a decent shot at starting. From what I saw of him, his arm and aim are both good, though his footwork needs some work.

The SEC powers are littered with great players that are, unfortunately, stuck behind even greater players. It can be brutal and I'd never fault anyone for transferring in those circumstances. They took a shot at competing with the best -- what top-rated person in any field wouldn't? -- and learned their limits. More power to them.

I think you made that up. Or can't understand sarcasm. Everyone knew someone would transfer. Christ, have you followed Alabama QB competitions at all under Nick Saban? We have a guy leave almost annually. Just not a month into the season.

It's a Darwinian game. Bama is loaded with talent and he didn't get what he wanted despite being the odds on favorite. I don't blame him for wanting to transfer but he should have finished at least the regular season.

If I'm a college coach...and of course it depends on how bad I need a QB...I probably pass on him just because of his timing. Yes, he quit on his team rather than suck it up and deal with his personal adversity. Instead of being on a practice field right now working to get better, he's off doing God knows what. I wouldn't touch him unless I was really desperate. If I'm a college coach, I'm asking him what he was doing today that he thought would be of more benefit to his development than being on a practice field with Lane Kiffin.

Yep. That is the only reason for concern. And the fact that Hurts has 45 rushing attempts makes that an unfortunate possibility.

He hasn't really taken a hard shot except that shot in the pocket at Ole Miss. He is pretty good at avoiding direct contact, but yes I would think Kiffin will be a little smarter calling the running plays with him now.

I knew the loser of the QB battle was going to transfer. But it's kind of a bitch move to transfer four games into the season. I just don't see the point, unless this season would count as a sit year.

We knew it was coming, so no hard feelings.
