Ely started and beat Arky
Del Rio is the starter at Florida
Morris started at North Texas
Sims played a lot at Virginia but was stupid

And that is off the top of my head. Most of the QB transfers have had quite successful post Bama careers.

I wouldn't count Morris because he got benched after one game as starter.

"I know there's a lot swirling around about Blake Barnett," Saban said Wednesday. "He did come to see me today before practice with some concerns about his future. Blake is a fine young man, he's done a great job with this program and we'd love to see him be a part of the program in a future. But we also want him to do what's best for him.

"I don't have a final decision on that. Nobody has told me that. You may know more about it than I do, so I can't make any more comments about it other than that."

I wish our fans would be as reasonable, rational, and classy as Coach Saban.

Saban about to lie to that kid and tell him the competition is still open. It's sad, but this is what coaches do.

Evidently you haven't watched Barnett play, because most reasonable people that have would know that it isn't as foregone a conclusion as some dummies think it is. Not even to mention injury, but one bad game by Hurts and a great game by Barnett and it could be a different story. Course, there is also the potential for a divided team, so this may be the best all around.

edit: And talk about a lying coach: Malzahn had Jeremy Johnson convinced that he was a Heisman candidate. har har har

Well, on 2nd thought, Malzahn might have just been that stupid.

this ... thought that the minute they announced it ... wouldn't be surprised to see dc transfer, also, which will leave bama in a precarious situation the next 2 years at least ...

Kinda a dickly move by him.

The guy has the tools to be a star somewhere though.

Saban, is that you? You want him to stay and wait I get it, you're an Alabama fan. The reasonable thing for this kid to do is transfer to a school that will build up his skills and give him exposure for the next level.

It's weird that you bring up this point, because Malzahn gave JJ way more time than he needed. We wanted JJ out a long time ago, but Malzahn kept giving him chance after chance. That argument is kind of futile, but you want to make this a bama vs Aubie thing, I get it.

Actually, I have said several times that Barnett would transfer, and if you are so inclined you can search my posts. I don't blame him at all. Also as noted, it will precluded any divisive team issues about the 2 qbs, so it's probably all for the best.

No. You wanted to make this about Saban, but knock yourself out. Auburn still sucks in any event. You guys don't even have one QB as good as Hurts or Barnett, so you got that going for you.

I mentioned Saban, but I also said this is what coaches do, even Malzahn. No harm no foul buddy. We just talking on a message board

I mean, I get it and figured it was inevitable with the success that Jalen Hurts was having, but dang, that's a little too fast if true. But, given that his fiancee is a surfer chick, he probably is happy with being able to move closer to wherever she is.

Another 5 star QB is a prima Donna and water is still wet.

If he doesn't want to compete you are better off without him.

I don't blame him for transferring, but quitting mid season strikes me as extremely immature.

It's like he's butt hurt he didn't win the starting job.

I think I've figured some of Coach Saban's 24 hour rule. It obviously applies to transfer decisions.

He's gone, but just as the Maurice Smith transfer, he's got 24 hrs to sleep on it... not 24 hours and one second.

That's a fair boss.

The qb comp is still on...that's a smart coach. Tua Tagavailoa is on the horizon and Barnett can't take another blow to his ego. Just my take.

Per Sources in Tuscaloosa: Blake Barnett planning/trying to transfer to JUCO this season so he will only have to sit out 4 games next year.
Came across this on Twitter. Don't know how factual.
