Seriously…this from an Auburn fan. Auburn graduated a guy that couldn't fricking read.

The current Ole Miss violations trump anything SMU ever did.

Irons Puppet, re your question about how many coaches have turned down N.D. it's pretty common knowledge that UM turned them down over this very issue. Several of his closest friends have said that N.D. was always his dream job but he wanted to bring in SEC quality type players & the Irish administration would not compromise. Kelly has been unhappy with those standards as well. Having said this, I detest the Irish so am not crying crocodile tears over this. But, once again, if anyone ever doubts how great bama is, just ask them. Half their threads are bout this. Which is why the team boards were created in the first place. Circle jerk city type thing.

So in other words unless you count national championships and winning percentage Holtz run at ND was better than Saban's at Bama

I would have to agree; for now. It's very close IMO. The Domers could swing the vote their way with another championship season or two.

It has become such a big issue with them that even NBC got involved. Give the Administration credit, they did not buckle under even when the TV Contract was threaten.

They need a separate board called: The Cult

Four Alabama titles ago, I think it was somewhat possible to argue that ND was the best program of all time.

It's a bit foolish to hold that opinion today though.

Bama is just widening the gap between them & #2. I'd argue USC or OU before ND.

And this Michigan stuff.. UM & Bo Schembechler are the most overrated things in college football.

UM has won one NC since the inception of the face mask & plastic helmets.

Heck even that lone NC was split.

Alabama passed ND a while back. That's not shocking news. The reality is with national championships in the 2000's so did Oklahoma, USC and Ohio State. Alabama has secured at minimum 10 year grace period of medeocrity or more with Saban's current run. They won't be passed unless there is an extended post Saban below average period involving several coaching misfires. That coupled with USC getting a new Pete Carol type coach or Urban Meyer deciding OSU is his final destination and maintaining his energy / focus. I think Oklahoma has a tougher road ahead.
