People wonder why ND has fallen back every year since the 90s. It all started when their President and Board wouldn't allow then to compromise with academics, it is one of the reason Holtz left. ND was a big draw but they couldn't get some of the best athletes into school.
What's funny is that most high-level schools will admit black students with way worse SATs than those required for white or asian students. So why do they care so much when it comes to football players?

ND didn't have to cheat like Bama did during every successful run they've had. That alone keeps them way ahead of Bama. Plus they are held to a higher standard.

If ND didn't have the academic restrictions placed on them by their administration, they would have 5 more NCs. Fifty percent of Bama NC teams couldn't get into ND.
and why does that matter at winning football games??? Sorry you made it so hard for kids to get in to Notre Dame? Life sucks?

We can't all be beacons of academic integrity like Auburn.

There are multiple Alabama players with more national titles than Auburn's entire program, and Auburn's last national title was won with Cam Newton.

You mean like the sexual assaults Brian Kelly has swept under the rug? What about the wrongful death suit they avoided with the student assistant that died on their watch?

Auburn has zero academic restrictions, and still doesn't have a pot to piss in when it comes to CFB history. What's AU's excuse?

Didn't mean to ruffle all the bammers feathers, and I'm not even Catholic. I'm just stating the widely accepted view of ND. Like I said, about half of those Bama NC rosters would have been able to get into school at ND.

Idk what's more laughable, the Auburn fan talking about academics or the Auburn fan talking about cheating

Or the Auburn fan talking about National Championships???

You'd think that The Farm would be proud to be residing in the same state (although most folks in the country don't know that fact) as historically, the best college football program in America...go figure.

There is zero doubt that Bama, ND, and OU are the top 3 football programs in NCAA history. Of course each fan base will argue that theirs is the best and L5U and awbarn fans will discount Bama as the top program. But the fact remains that Bama is top 3 for sure so SUCK IT HATERS!

A thread about Bama and ND wouldn't be complete without Rudy.

Meh, starting in the 30's the national media, run by Catholics, made a deal with ND to syndicate it's radio broadcasts all over catholic America. Back then every good Catholic mom had one dream for her son to go to ND. Ara said himself he turned away guys that eventually became All Americans in the Big 10. ND had syndicated games before national TV and the NBC contract later on and both of those gave them HUGE advantages in recruiting over Bama. ND could play the Catholic card that Bama didn't have. At best it's a wash.
