Absolutely. Has the culture changed though?

Ketch and Chip Brown are still inflating stars based on commitments. If a IRL 3 star leans towards Texas he gets bumped to a 4 star, then Texas fans beat their penises about getting a 4 star.

Texas players are notoriously soft. Is Strong going to change that? Maybe.

FSUs Heisman winning QB is from Alabama

OSU, FSU, Clemson, Tennessee, etc all get out of state kids.

This is getting ridiculous.

No not always, but a certain percentage does.

Plus unlike Florida where the SEC is old news and there are multiple local options to get there, in Texas the SEC is new and exciting and there is only one path if that is what a recruit wants.

The history of Texas is to be basically all in one conference, much like Cali. Florida has been the home of a multi-conference landscape for decades.

Honestly the SEC doesn't help us win battles with Texas so much as it does OU. OU sold to Texas boys "play close to Texas at a place where you have a chance to be a champion." A&M now sells "play instate in the only conference that produces champions." It was a great pitch until the teams from Alabama went and fricked it all up.

Um, you do know that kids from FL have picked FSU, in a lesser conference, for many years now. It has nothing to do with Muschamp.

Your statement was to all encompassing. I get what you were intimating, but it's not true for most players. If it were, FSU would get who we allowed them to get.

How do you explain the kids that go to FSU then? ACC will clearly never be confused for the best conference.

The Big 12 (Big 10 in reality) has gone to hell. Would you rather play against Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, etc. or play against Iowa State, TCU, etc. in some half-filled stadiums. The conference sells itself because of the competition. Also, our success two seasons ago combined with the Manziel factor has obviously played a huge role in our recruiting success.

Maybe it's just my incorrect read on this topic ... but it appears that when you initially asked for our opinions in the OP, you were looking for specific responses?

At the end of the day, we're thrilled w our team, coach, university, conference, etc. UTex making improvements is a great thing for them, and not a concern to us.

The culture at UT has historically brought them a lot of success. Mack was the issue. They'll be relevant again very soon.

You might be the dumbest mother fricker on this board. You can't even read and interpret basic claims. You actually think, "he's not a good fit" means "he won't be successful" and "that he's not good on camera will hurt his recruiting" means "he has no chance to recruit well."

God help your dumbass soul.

2 seasons ago Mack was the coach. Yall forget that he no longer is. Strong is a damn good coach and a damn good recruiter.

Combine that with Texas facilities and money and I think they're off and running. Unfortunately.

not when their dumb arse fans are making shirts like these.

even if he has success there I seriously doubt he will be a lifer like Mack or Stoops. With idiots like Red McCombs up his arse he is going to get sick of the job with quickness and pull a Bill O'Brien the first chance he gets.

Aggies dgaf who coaches the stronghorns. Aggies recruit Texas players who are serious about ball, want to play against the very best (SEC), and are driven to make it to the NFL.

You should re-read your post about his press conference and reevaluate who the dumbass is here.

You sound foolish.

No one disputes that, cas4t.
Good for them.
We'll do our thing.
They can do theirs.

Mack was a terrible recruiter. He couldn't ever get hardly any talent to come enjoy all that money and those great facilities.

Not worried. A&M has to just concern itself with it's priorities. Winning the SECW being priority #1. I like what Sumlin is doing in recruiting. If the defense can turn it around, then, the absence of Manziel can be mitigated.

I think Strong is probably the best remaining candidate after the big splash names withdrew, but it's too early to be worried. Strong seems like a good defensive minded coach. But this is a new challenge so the jury is still out. Also, the problems with their athletic department are larger than just the head coach.

The point of the press conference comment might have something to do with the LHN obligations as part of that job.
