Anyone who thinks Chavis won't bring some stability to A&M's defensive woes is either trolling or dumb or both. However, and I've been saying this since he left, if A&M doesn't do something to significantly upgrade their DBs and depth then he won't be there very long. I don't mean just signing numbers. You need elite talent in the secondary for his shitty front 7 scheme to work.

He can't recruit. His talent evaluations at his position (lb) was hot garbage. Not only that, but we would ignore lb for 2-3 years in a row then take like 7 in one class.

Kirby Smart is the Bama DC. He and Saban called the plays for that game?

You're right. LSU has a plethora of talented players on defense, several former players in the NFL and Chavis had absolutely nothing to do with it. You guys are unreal.

I mean, go look at our lineup on 247 and look at who recruited them. That function exists. It's been known for a long time he doesn't enjoy recruiting and his success on the field gave him a pass in this area. This is like arguing that the sky is blue at this point.

Chavis had absolutely nothing to do with it. Aggy is quickly realizing that, whether they want to admit it or not.

Chavis can't recruit yet leaves LSU with a very talented defensive roster...makes sense.

You have no clue how recruiting works do you?

Chavis had a great run at LSU, but it was time for him to go. His D couldn't make the stops when it counted most, and we saw it over and over again. I was a huge Chavis fan. After the last drive loss to Clemson in the bowl game, I started paying closer attention. Then I saw it happen over and over again. No need to keep going on over that, it's well documented.

He was a good hire for A&M and they will see marginal improvement on D. What I don't get is Aggies expecting to have a similar D that LSU has had.

A&M doesn't have the athletes and depth that LSU has on D. That coupled with their fun and gun O is a terrible combination. I don't see any defensive coordinator having huge success there as long as Sumlin keeps trying to score in 2 plays. Also add in that Chavis doesn't recruit. He's not going to pull in a bunch of big time recruits for you guys. Do you really think it was him pulling in all the talent at LSU? You don't hear any LSU players talking about their relationship with Chavis.

In all honesty, I believe hiring Chavis was just the last effort by Sumlin to keep the heat off of him. If they see a vast improvement, he will look like a genius. If there's no real improvement and A&M continues to underachieve, the seat is going to get real hot for Sumlin at the end of the season.

He acts as though LSU fans are just now saying Chavis didn't recruit heavily. We knew that but didn't care. Aggy should feel the same if they end up success on the field.

I appreciate what Chavis did for LSU but I'm not blind to the fact he got stale here.

I can understand this. But, I don't remember EVER hearing a LSU fan say anything bad about him when he was at LSU. I saw many times LSU fans defend him tot he death and call anyone that criticized him a moron, uninformed or worse.

Now every day a thread is started about how bad he was/is. Granted, some of this is probably because A&M fans are egging some of this on....but man....let him go.

So you're already giving him a first year pass and you think he recruited well at LSU

You're delusional

Somebody was either locking up elite recruits or Chavis was doing a heck of a job coaching them up.

Daylon Mack had decommitted. After Chavis/ Sumlin in-house visit he recommitted to the Ags shortly after. That's one off the top of my head.

He hasn't even had a full recruiting cycle to recruit either.
