Maybe, maybe not. You replaced him with a guy that was fired from BAYLOR for underachieving though, so good luck with all that. I'll take our chances with Chavis.

Thank goodness LSU didn't hire him as a HC then, amirite.

At least use Clemson where he was fired from the same position, idiot.

There are several UT fans here that will tell you something similar in regards to him leaving.

In Chavis 14 years at UT, they won 10+ games nine times, won a national title and had eight top-10 defenses. Since he left, they haven't won more than 7 games in a season, are average 6 wins a year and haven't had a single defense in the top 40.

Clearly, Chavis was the problem.

Your avi is screaming fear.

Head coach of a Big12 program is now our DC after being hired by Saban twice. I'll take it

And then take more of Texas' top croots

If you are trying to talk shite to Aggies about getting Chavis, just show him the 41-7 Auburn game.

Getting fired by Clemson for being a shitty DC isn't exactly awesome, but getting fired by Baylor for failing to meet expectations (regardless of position) is like having a dishonorable discharge from the military on your resume. It SHOULD exclude you from ever being anything more than a position coach ever again.

Clearly, LSU was impressed however.

You're right. I mean, it's not like basically the entire coaching staff was turned over or anything. It was only Chavis....you're a smart one.

They don't care. The only time they saw Chavis work was when Corey Raymond was our DC.

So we're NOT giving Chavis the credit for his exceptional run of defensive excellence at UT?

That's unfortunate

Chavis has been one of the better DCs over the last decade. Can you do a similar breakdown on your new DC?

Aggie fans have seen enough of Kevin Steele in action to put any potential fears about him to rest.

The guy once lost a game because he went for two not realizing he was down only one, and another because he refused to take a knee with 10 seconds left. THAT is your coaching upgrade.

I am sure breaking down his previous stops for pass rush and coverage and give us a glimpse of how much pressure he sends, how much he attacks.

You're talking about last year, the year we led the SEC in total defense? You're lying to yourself if you don't think all the pumpers that are now bashing Chavis, wouldn't have berated anyone who claimed someone else was a better coordinator when Chavis was at LSU. Did he have some flaws? Yes, he had a few, but he was still by far our best guy at X's and O's. I could write a book on the flaws of Miles', but you're probably one of the guys ready to erect the statue of him and bash everyone who doesn't think he's the second best coach in the SEC. It's not anti-homerism. There exists a happy medium which I would call rationality. You just probably can't see it, hence my point.

Well, it's a good thing he's not going to be making decisions on the offensive side of the ball then, amirite.

So, as a HC, Steele deserves all the blame for the offensive and defensive woes of Baylor? I guess that mean Phil Fulmer and Les deserve all of the credit for Chavis' successes under them, correct?

I'm not too worried about it because a 14 year old with Down Syndrome could coach this defense to a top 2-3 in the conference at this point. have you seen our depth chart? It's filthy

Can't say the same for aggy, especially at DB. yall have the higher regarded coach, and LSU has the better players. We will see how the defensive stats unfold in 2015.

Chavis can't recruit yet leaves LSU with a very talented defensive roster...makes sense.
