Why do LSU fans get so butthurt when people point out to them that the country doesnt care about college baseball?

Because its what they are best at.

Same with USCjr fans who get all upset over it, they have not experienced success in other sport so it has to be super important, as big as basketball even...

Baseball in and of itself is losing popularity as a sport. It's an old man's game, much more so than it ever used to be. Not that it's dying or anything, but I see fewer and fewer young people who care about it and follow it.

I can't cite any specific ratings numbers (on my phone) at the moment, but World Series ratings have been in the toilet for a while now. I remember reading about how one game in the Phillies-Rays World Series in 2008 got beaten in the ratings by a rerun of Seinfeld.

are you saying you want the NCAA to throw games that favor a team like LSU that travels well when they don't deserve to be there?

A sport doesn't grow like that...

Not at all. You fellas really enjoy putting words in people's mouths.

The game has changed. Fact.

Not for the better, and most will agree. The game isn't as exciting as it could be and doesn't draw a crowd unless your team is in it. Hence the reason why the NCAA is trying the lower seams next year. They see that a change needs to be made.

Will it benefit some schools more than others? Probably.

Look at march madness. People go crazy over that shite. Im not a huge basketball fan but I watch about 90% of the tournament and my team rarely makes it. Why? Its exciting.

They act like they want to try to grow the sport with all the coverage they've provided the last few years, but in all reality have done nothing but cripple it.

I don't mind the style of play. I enjoy watching a pitchers duel and good D. But that's not what the majority likes. And that's not going to help grow the sport.

At least baseball is ahead of college lacrosse.

If it's not football or men's basketball, it's a niche sport. Period.

It's hard to get people interested when there are no games on nationally until the super regionals. And even then some of the games are on espnU or espn3 that doesn't have many subscribers.

If there was a nationally televised baseball game on 3 or 4 times a week like there is with basketball then that would generate a lot more interest

My issue is that people keep pointing out something we already know.

So what, we enjoy college baseball? I don't see college hockey littering the ratings either. and I don't try to make a point every other day that no one cares about college hockey outside of the Northeast.

Plus, more and more kids are starting to head to college instead of the draft. it's trending upwards, slowly but surely

I have no real knowledge but hopefully our gurus do, I looked up NCAA Wrestling Finals from this year and the overnight was 2.6. Wish some SEC schools would join Mizzou on the Mat, LSU used to have wrestling and were pretty good, Texas, Georgia and Florida all produce lots of good kids.

I think one thing that has hurt college baseball historically is that MLB already has a huge and very well developed minor league system outside of college.

Whereas college effectively serves as the minor leagues for the NFL and NBA.
