Why do LSU fans get so butthurt when people point out to them that the country doesnt care about college baseball?

college baseball is a regional sport. i don't think anyone denies that. same can be said about college hockey. it is extremely popular in parts of the country, but people couldn't care less about it in other parts.

Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in America.

Give it a few years.

Baseball in and of itself is losing popularity as a sport. It's an old man's game, much more so than it ever used to be. Not that it's dying or anything, but I see fewer and fewer young people who care about it and follow it.

I can't cite any specific ratings numbers (on my phone) at the moment, but World Series ratings have been in the toilet for a while now. I remember reading about how one game in the Phillies-Rays World Series in 2008 got beaten in the ratings by a rerun of Seinfeld.

society doesn't have the patience for a sport like baseball anymore.

i've been hearing the same thing about soccer since the early 90s. Lacrosse is a sport for rich preppy white kids.

My issue is that people keep pointing out something we already know.

So what, we enjoy college baseball? I don't see college hockey littering the ratings either. and I don't try to make a point every other day that no one cares about college hockey outside of the Northeast.

Plus, more and more kids are starting to head to college instead of the draft. it's trending upwards, slowly but surely

How many people start Hockey threads here?

Gymnastics?

Track and field?

Cross Country?

Etc?

People get pissed off when basketball threads are started in November here, baseball people think they need to start littering the board with threads staring in January when if fact the only time the sport is relevant is this time of year for a week for those with teams in Omaha.

Alex Collins played Lacrosse before football. Unlike Soccer that is popular every where in the world out side of the US no matter social economic status, Lacrosse is gaining popularity among all peoples in the US.

lacrosse will never become a big spectator sport, which is what this thread is about... it's not a very asthetically pleasing game to watch... i'm sure it's a blast to play, though.

in article you linked
"“the surge has mostly bypassed America's black and Hispanic neighborhoods, hampered by unfamiliarity, high cost and a reputation as being the pursuit of the privileged.”

basically all those articles show is people trying to bring the sport to the inner city, but i fail to see an inner city school with a lacrosse team. you can find similar programs for basically any and every sport in the united states. lacrosse will never be a nationally popular sport among all demographics.

I am a big pro baseball fan but I think college baseball sucks all around. When I worked for TCU athletics I hated doing baseball games.

At least in college football/basketball, you see things you won't see in the pro game like air raid/triple option offenses or Princeton offenses; also they are essentially minor leagues for the pros so you know the players you are watching will be pro next year. Baseball has neither of those things. At best you will see a college baseball player in the majors in 2-3 years. And the game itself is just major league baseball without the home runs.

So you just don't like minor league baseball either.

I don't like minor league ball because i don't have any connections to it and the way they brand themselves is just really cheesy, but it's different rooting on the school you grew up with/your alma mater IMO

Teams i hate in football and baseball I can hate when we play them in baseball too
