You people with your "but the regular season", denying legit teams based on some silly notion that the regular season is unique.

WTF does this even mean?

It isn't reciprocated from us except SOJ, but he seems angry at everyone.

I can promise you that the majority of UT fans don't give a single frick about OM. Their fans on the other hand...

Edit: And I think there should be an Easter egg style hunt for the 8th spot. Invite the top 50 teams who aren't in the playoff to participate in this.

So if OU beats Clemson will still be spouting this shite. How do we know of OU is better? Maybe they are or maybe they aren't. If OU wins clearly they are one of the top two teams.

Your entire argument relies on the notion that it would hurt the regular season or that the regular season is unique. I'd rather find a true champion then be able to say that the FBS regular season is unique.

This is completely irrelevant to my argument. Any top 25 team can beat any other top 25 team. Thats why they play the games. shite happens. All that shite happened in the REGULAR SEASON already. Why keep pairing teams to oblivion just for shits and giggles. We ranked them based off the season, so let them play their champ game and get it over with.

Right, so let the top 25 teams in, and let them play 100,000 times and see who the "real champ" is. You realize that there is no way to know who the "best" team is right? I mean frick the giants won two super bowls FFS.

I agree with 8
But not winning your conference means you have less of a right.

8 just makes sense. Win your conference and you're in. Or be on of the top 3 teams who didn't.

The entire point for a post season is to find the true champion. There is a reason every other sport and league has a playoff of some sort. Even the FCS knows a playoff is needed, basing the top two off someone's opinion is retarded.

NFL has 12
CBB has 68
FCS has 16

I realize that but having 8 gives you the best chance without overloading the playoffs

How are we missing that we already have playoffs? It's the regular season.

It's conference champ games.

It's a play in game for the national championship.

I'm a traditionalist for sure, but I don't mind the 4 team playoff. It seems enough and not quite too much.

Last year was a great example of it working. Just one year before, bama would have been in the BCS champ game. Same for this year. Under new system they still have to win one more game for that right.

Last year proved how hard this can be, and why more than 2 teams deserve a shot.

Regarding FCS vs FBS (16 vs 4)…please think through that. That's night and day difference. FBS players take much more physical beating week in and out. Way more NFL prospects who risk getting hurt with each extra game (and possibly just hold out to protect draft status).

FCS is not even close to a legit argument for expanding major college playoff.

4 is right.

Alabama won their conference, the other two did not. Only team with a legitimate argument is Stanford, and they lost two games so who cares.

I absolutely agree in principle. I'm just honestly concerned that the more we keep expanding, the more injuries become an issue. Yes, the NFL plays up to 16 games, but injured players in the NFL have hundreds of thousands of dollars at minimum to keep them comfortable, and the players on the field the most (ergo, the ones most likely to get injured) have millions to wallow in. A CFB player suffering a career-ending injury doesn't have that.

Oh my god man. Its all based off someone's opinion. We dont need a playoff to have a championship game and determine a champ. The bcs proved it for 15 years.

A playoff that accomplishes what you want would be based on conferences champs and division champs. Not commitees. Unfortunately the conferences are not all equal and they dont have the same freedom as pro teams, so that isn't really a great solution either.

The BCS was the solution and it worked.

The BCS did not work, there were too many times the two playing weren't the best

It certainly did not prove that. What it proved is that if you play a football game you can lose a football game. That is all. The #10 team could have beaten bama, which would mean what exactly? Should ole miss be in the finals now because theu beat bama?

Would it be fair for #1 seed Clemson at 13-0 to still have to win 3 more games to win it all, starting off with # 8 seed OSU. Don't think so.

4 is all you need. It's what made last night awesome. Otherwise everybody that played yesterday gets in. Basically. 8 teams would water down the season to meajjngless

The two teams that played were judged based on the SAME CRITERIA AS EVERYONE ELSE.

But I will play along. Name the failed matchups.

Oh so when the playoffs prove you wrong you just make up some shitty exucuse

By your logic playoffs in all sports shouldn't exist because anyone can beat anyone right?
