Agreed! I mean, the NCAA just allowed 5-7 win teams to go to bowls since there are so many. Teams with losing seasons should not go to the post season.

OU is only in because the committee is playing politics
Total bs
Stanford was way more deserving

So don't let Oklahoma in even though Oklahoma is pretty legit? Great logic
Why not let everyone in? Then we can call it the regular season pt. 2.
Dude. Cmon. At what point are we saying that we have the top two teams? Should we let every match be a best of 3 just to shuffle it around 100 times? Like cricket or something, 200 inning games, 49 team brackets, jist in case Boise has an outside shot of winning?
The teams are ranked. Top two play for #1. 3 and 4 for #2.

Stanford could've not lost twice. That was within their control and they failed. Sorry.

What is the point in that? Make them play the games. 8 is a solid formula. 8>4>2>1
Hell, you could even cut the regular season by a game if you needed to. I don't care to see any SEC team play East Idaho State Community College anyway.

It's not a league, and choosing those 8 teams would be equally subjective and meaningless as 4, with as much controversy as who gets left out and just as much reason to keep expanding, and continues to devalue the most meaningful regular season in sports
God Damnit this! Its like people think the playoffs aren't subjective or that adding more teams = less subjectivity. It actually mean more subjectivity and more butthurt.

No, it is not. Then everyone would complain about who did or didn't earn the bye.

Are you serious right now?
Oklahoma is a legit contender, they deserve a chance just like the other three. Hell, Stanford, OSU, and even Iowa could make a claim for a spot.
Your entire point is absolutely ridiculous. Nobody is saying it should 32 or even 16.

Based on merit I don't know that I'd have OSU in a 16 team playoff.
Ohio State would be in a six team playoff. Deal with it.

...to do this. OSU has as much of a right as Alabama to be in the hunt and so does Iowa in my opinion.
Dumbest thing I've seen yet regarding the playoff. OSU looked like garbage all year and was 1-1 against ranked opponents, losing to the higher rank. Iowa had its chance in the CCG.
Iowa had one ranked opponent, and lost.
I'm just about done with the playoff, and the committee. It almost seems worse.
Let's keep it to 4 teams but just go back to the BCS formula.

quote:No matter what, forever. Only way to solve this is to use the standard of undefeated seasons. Only undefeated teams are truly deserving. Everything beyond that will always be a crapshoot and controversial. So the best we can do is make sure undefeated teams always get a shot. 4 accomplishes that. Game over, problem solved. Go sports.
everyone would complain

You people with your "but the regular season", denying legit teams based on some silly notion that the regular season is unique.

Nope. Football is too physical a game. After a full regular season and conference championship games, how beat up are the teams gonna be by the time it gets down to two?
You're lessening the competitiveness of the biggest games

So. Argument and controversy is good. Same would be said about the 8/9th seeding

According to who? They are ranked number 4. That is lower than msu, alabama and clemson. "Deserves a chance" wth does that even mean? They had a chance. They finished the season at 4. So they can play MSU for #2. Bama and clemson play for #1. Call it a day.
I mean does OSU not deserve a chance? They didn't lose to texas...
If this was a real playoff it would be based on winning divisions and conferences. Not commitee rankings. Then you could say OU deserves a chance, because they would. As it is now, the system is no better than the BCS. Its actually worse.

Yeah sports are so much more exciting when teams only have to play for postseason seeding.

What? Iowa was in the hunt but they lost to Michigan St

No...you are just looking for an excuse for 2 loss Bama team to get to still get in the playoffs...
