My guess would be legit. At the presser, Richt said he would know something by Friday. To me, this implies he’ll obviously know something before they get on the plane. I didn’t take it as we will get a decision as far as eligibility moving forward. I suspect he’ll sit out the Arky game and they will get this sorted out on the bye week.

I don't think outright saying "not anticipating it to change this week" is trying to backtrack. That's a pretty direct, straightforward message. I highly doubt Richt (or one of his staffers, who could have tweeted this) would say something that to the point if he actually thought we would know something.

"Early next week" has come and gone, so I'm just going ahead and accepting we won't have todd this week and hopefully we get him back for jax.

I would advise everyone to start ignoring these kinds of statements and anything else about the Gurley situation until an official statement is released if you haven't already.

Yep, and to be honest I'm more interested in the status of Chubb, Michel and Douglas at this point.

Chubb and Douglas are playing Saturday. Michel is back for UF at the earliest. Now back to worrying about Gurley

I would imagine we may see JJ play both sides of the ball this weekend.

It's a possibility, but probably not too many snaps IMO. He's only been getting reps at RB because of keith, not todd. We did fine last week and have a bye next week...if he does get any RB carries I doubt it's more than 5.

I agree. Need Chubb to have somewhat fresh legs in the 4th quarter if possible (even though he still ran like it 30+ carries into the game against mizzou) too because Arkansas' conditioning has been suspect in the 4th

Yes we did, but we can't put the ball in his hands 38 times again.

why not?

Obviously I would PREFER us not to..but if we did so what? Chubb is a hoss. He came back in on Sunday morning and worked out on his own. The kid is an animal, he can certainly handle it. And as mentioned we have a bye next week, then we get Sony and likely Todd back after that.

This game is beyond big. If we lose we are not looking good for the east, and say goodbye to the playoff. This is a MUST win game..we need to do everything we possibly can to win it and if that means giving chubb 35+ carries then so be it.

I absolutely agree. We don't want him injured or worn down in case we need him for later games. I would cap him at 36 Max.

Truth is, I expect us to throw the ball a lot. 3 passing TDs this week.

I would expect us to see JJ Green some on 3rd down in this game if Gurley doesn't play. Just a guess, but that's what I'm expecting.

I was impressed with Chubb's stamina. His conditioning is 2 levels above Gurley's. After 38 carries the kid never even budged his mouth piece, he was breathing like he just woke up.

This is just rediculous at this point. Richt sounds like a politician here. How could you make two contradictory statements in less than 24 hours. Gurley plays football for a public state university partially funded by the taxpayer on a full scholarship in front of 60,000 donors to the Georgia Bulldog Club. Cut the crap for once.

It think it was more of a mistake/misstatement than a political move. If he was trying to be deceptive it would be only for our teams benefit. Like making Ark wonder who is going to start.
