Not really a misstatement as much as misinterpreted. I think he was just saying the obvious. If Gurley is cleared, he will play, he is isn't he won't. I don't think he ever meant that he would have a decision about his suspension absolutely by Friday. Just this game.

Yep. Some on here get a little worked up. As someone else said, I would be surprised if played this weekend.

Mark Richt knows if he can play Gurley or not already. He always stringing along the fans when stuff like this happens. I guess he think its cute

The problem I have with all this crap is if it turns out to be a 1 game decision and Gurley sits 2...and even worse...we lose this Sat...then what? Imo If we don't hear from them by Friday then it's more than a 1 game suspension

Sounds funny. But I think what he means is if the NCAA agrees that it should be one game, they SHOULD feel obligated to let us know by Friday. It would be silly to say its one game but not tell us in time for him to play.

To me, this implies he’ll obviously know something before they get on the plane
It would be nice if we could keep all the dumbass rumors and theories in one thread. That way, you can all argue over what richt really means when he says he needs to take a dump. "By dump does he mean Gurley is getting dumped off the team?"

How long did it take the NCAA to hit AJ?

I'm over it. I want Gurley back just as much as the next person. But I'm not going to continue to refresh dawg boards and Twitter every five minutes.

Legit or trying too hard to backtrack
Well, he has went from, "we'll know by Friday," to "he'll travel if we hear that he's cleared," to "I don't expect to hear anything this week."...

^ Most likely what will happen, that is just what happens at UGA.

If Greg McGarity has any moxy, THIS is what we will do.
Release a press statement:
"The University of Georgia has concluded an investigation on one of our players, Todd Gurly. We have found that Mr. Gurly had violated an NCAA rule. Our interpretation of the violation calls for a 1 game suspension.
Our player has received that suspension from the University. If, at some future date, NCAA officials find that more than a one day suspension is called for, then any suspensions will be served after any such ruling from the NCAA. Any questions or requests for further comments should be addressed to our legal council."

Hopefully if McGarity/UGA were to release that statement they'd spell our player's name correctly.

That would be dumb. If there's good evidence that Gurley accepted amounts that warrant a greater penalty than one game, then we're asking for probation if we play him early. Message board bravado is not a suitable tactic for the UGA athletic department.
