What I think is stupid is the loss of the concourse on top of the stands in the SEZ.

Eta: the SEZ is the only part of the stadium that is currently okay. The focus needs to be on the other 3 sides

It is expected that the south endzone renovation will only take one off season to complete. We plan to put the project up for bid in late fall 2014, with construction to begin in early 2015. It is anticipated that the new club, concourse and suites will be finished and completed in time for the 2015 season.

It is the goal of the athletic department to then begin construction on the north endzone after 2015 season with completion before the 2016 season. No premium seating options will be offered in the north endzone at this time. Concept drawings and more information on the north endzone will be released at a later date.

So obviously the student section is going to be moved to the NEZ, but there will be a year where the suites are below the students. There are going to be some pissed off folks when we score and drinks go everywhere. I can't wait to see how they reorganize the student section for that year.

The next project better be fixing west boxes. They could charge whatever they wanted and people would still pay if they were as nice as the south endzone. It would be expensive but it's where the most money in our fan base would want to sit. Nicest seats in the stadium should be there not in the south zone.

I don't think it's a bad concept at all. It's where the money is made. I just wish they would renovate the east and west side suites/press boxes to match the SEZ better.

Yeah. Its not like any recent developments w/ t.v. deals have changed our desperate paradigm of making money as soon as possible w/ no thought to future expansion. As long as we are making more money...

Ok, so I've read this thing about three times already and I have no idea what in the world is going on.

First, let me ask a few questions before I get lambasted, because I'm not that familiar with the East and West Sides.

The West side is the home side with uneven asphalt right? On top, is that just a press box or is there premium seating up there too?

The East Side is away, with club level seats?

I guess my question is more of, what was the reasoning in starting the expansion the first go around in the end zone to begin with? Don't get me wrong, that end zone looks awesome because of it, but most places goes up on the sides first because there is more money to be had there. Maybe I need a little history lesson...

No idea. The bleachers on the other end will be removed as well though.

Bjork's twitter is pretty informative right now. He's saying that the students will not lose capacity and it will be later announced what the plans are for them, but released these plans to get sales going. Also said immediately after the season the press box will be getting work done. Said students presence will increase in the full stadium plan. Also said that they will be adding room to the concourse area in the SEZ that everyone believes will be too crowded. If it is a problem yall have thought of, I promise you arent the only one an its getting addressed.

They should have put the private suites under the East Rebel Club where that concourse is. Then keep the field suites in the endzone. Leaving the south concourse open for standing room fans and concession/bathrooms.

^This shite right here.

As of now the East Side Club level is awkwardly stacked on top of the east side grandstand with a noticeable gap between the two making it aesthetically unappealing.

It would make the stadium more appealing and add more revenue if we added premium seating under the East Side Club Level.

It would look so sexy if we placed glass from the bottom of the East Side Club level straight down to where the whitish chair back bleachers meet the greyish bleachers in the pic above. Then renovate the glassed in area to add individual premium box seating.

IMHO This will add more revenue and make the stadium look much sexier than the proposed South Endzone club seating.

“The south end zone was chosen for the expansion of premium seating because it allows for the consolidation of premium seating into one main area of the stadium,” Bjork said. “Existing in-frastructure, such as a kitchen, elevators and access to parking are already in place to operate the new premium seating. There is a significant savings in construction cost by capitalizing on existing infrastructure.

That last sentence screams WAOM to me. What about the extra 20 million dollars we're getting every season now?

A&M could have built their stadium "cheaper" but they wanted to build something that was impressive.
State built a very impressive stadium that will shite on our stadium for years if we don't make the right move.

I think we're blowing a big opportunity to build something impressive.

We're still spending a shite load of money to increase capacity by only 3,500 seats. WTF?

I'm just disappointed by the new design (as most people who believed we were getting a bad arse stadium and not this half arse shite would be.) I don't have to agree with everything Bjork proposes just because he doesn't suck a bag of dicks like every other athletic director we've ever had.

This helps explain the rational a little more and although I am pleased that there is a lot more included in the plans than what has been released to this point, I don't agree to the removal of the top concourse in the SEZ.

Ross Bjork @RossBjorkAD · Aug 6

@CottonGent Larger scale plans to be released later - we had to launch sales process for new club seats so this is the starting point....

Ross Bjork @RossBjorkAD · Aug 6

@samlove5 @HKellenbergerCL West side press box is in the works to start after 2014 season as well....stay tuned for more details. Thx!

Ross Bjork @RossBjorkAD · Aug 6

@tdblaylock Our goal is to increase student presence in the full stadium plan & those details to be released as the season starts....

Ross Bjork @RossBjorkAD · Aug 6

@OleMiss_Rebs Filling in exisiting gaps & building out more square footage on concourse level to add much more space.......

Ross Bjork @RossBjorkAD · Aug 6

@mattslug6 We will release full stadium plans as the season starts up - had to get the suites & club seats out there to start sales process.

Ross Bjork @RossBjorkAD · Aug 6

@OleMiss_Rebs @HKellenbergerCL Where are your seats located? Will be adding more restrooms & concessions on south end that are needed anyway

Ross Bjork @RossBjorkAD · Aug 6

@PapaCoconuts @HKellenbergerCL Student seating capacity will remain intact....goal is to add capacity once north end zone is expanded...

Trying to compare us to A&M is retarded. Their endowment is more than 12x what ours is.

Eta:actually it's more than 16 times what ours is.

It is comforting, however, to know that they still plan to expand the NEZ, work on the pressbox, and do other improvements around the stadium.

Yeah I like how they are going about it. It's smarter and more economical even though most fans are gonna bitch about it.
