That isnt going to happen. They wont be covering up statues and getting rid of a cemetary.
A couple years back there was a liberal movement to try and remove the statues and cemetery. The government stepped in and shot it all down because they are federal landmarks that represent American history.

I dont think that is so much the case. I just think with any institution there isnt anything wrong with people asking questions about changing things. If in fact they feel changing those things help the overall perception and can lead to better players which means more wins. In the end thats what it should be about. Not keeping some tradition that doesnt help at all and is debatable whether it hurts. If the only reason you have for something staying is I grew up with it, then its probably not something that really matters one way or the other.
I agree Ole Miss is who we are. That should never be changed. The Grove is the most popular tailgating spot in all of college football. That should never change. Dixie??? ehhh... doesnt really matter one way or the other to me..

Fun fact. 0 of the people in that movement were black.

Dixie without the dumbasses yelling TSWRA is no reason for anyone to get upset.

No monuments or cemeteries should ever be touched, you should never disrespect the dead

So removing the name Col. Reb is going to get you better players? Freezus will be real excited over this development since he's had such a tough time before this point.
As far as the "grew up with" comment, I'd say it's a bit more than that. Like I said, people identify with certain things tied to their Universities. It's what makes them uniquely theirs. I'd say that's something worth holding onto if it's not really offending anyone.

Truth is most black people dont give a shite. Unless is those fake zass black leaders who have their own agenda($) as to why they bring this type stuff up.

The point was some of the debatable issues are definitely not reasons why anyone chooses to go play ball at Ole Miss.
On the other hand I know for FACT it has been the reason some have chosen NOT to go to Ole Miss.
As far as the "grew up with" comment. You stated the other day that traditions dont have to last forever. I'm sure there were people who identified with the confederate flags at games. At some point it was decided that it was a outdated tradition and was removed.
There will ALWAYS be things tied with Ole Miss that could be found offensive. ALWAYS. I think as a administration someone has to ask the question does this tradition still match the direction this university is moving?

But you're right. It is, and there are people who want it changed FWIW.

I refuse to support a school and administration who insists on getting rid of traditions because someone's feelings got hurt. The name Ole Miss isn't hurting anyone. It's what we're known by and it is more than just a nickname. If it goes, I hope all boosters go.
Red herring, deflection, etc.
"Ole Miss" isn't going anywhere. Bookmark it and hold me to it if it does, but I really do not believe that it is. This discussion isn't about the name Ole Miss, but about the winner of a bullshite popularity contest that NOBODY over the age of 22 gives a frick about.

I know for a fact Justin Woodall chose Alabama because there were some in his family who didnt like Ole Miss because of its past. Granted that wasnt the only reason, but it didnt help our chances.
The point was not every black athlete says this. Nor that we lose ALOT of players because of it. But as I stated, its not gaining us any.

I get tired of hearing "Oxford's nothing like I thought it was" and other shite of the like...
While it's good to get that exposure, I'm tired of people still thinking Oxford is backwards as frick...

And how would changing Col Reb or Dixie or anything like that change the past? People will view Oxford and Mississippi as racist if they want to, regardless of what we change or don't change.

Justin Woodall's first cousin is one of my best friends. I assure you he didn't go to Alabama because of anything to do with Ole Miss' past. It's much more personal than that.
