I guarantee if the name Ole Miss is ever taken away, there will be a huge backlash over it. It's not just a song, mascot or flag they're taking away if they do that.

If it meant we won a NC in football I could give two shites. You and every other booster could support whoever the hell you want. Its about winning.
Now granted that is NOT going to happen. Ever. I wouldnt think that is necessary, the same way I didnt think removing Col Reb was necessary. In the end I'm a Ole Miss fan. Period. I would never support Bama, MSU or any other institution because I'm a Ole Miss fan. A true fan. I could understand just not supporting the school. Supporting a rival I will never understand...

Which is sad because it seems there's some folks that are far too ate up with how people outside of Ole Miss perceive Ole Miss at this point. If what pank says is true about enrollment and such who GAF about continuing to remove these things.
I can't fault Ole Miss fans at being annoyed by it either. I would be too if I looked up and Kentucky started removing traditions I grew up with and identified with because someone has gotten too PC.

I agree that there can be too much PC. But we cant act like it is never needed. Without it I'd still be drinking from the blacks only water fountain.

When in the last few years has it been needed? TSWRA was nothing more than a few idiots and the university blew it up and MADE it a national story to show how progressive we are being. It was bullshite. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Dan Jones or some of the administration were wanting to remove the confederate statues and cover up the confederate cemetery.

I don't know of anyone who has said that political correctness wasn't ever needed. No need to talk that extreme for shock value here.
It has reached a point at Ole Miss that certain people are using the "OH NOZ THEY'LL THINK WE'RE STILL RACIST" as a ploy to give themselves attention. See your ASB.

That isnt going to happen. They wont be covering up statues and getting rid of a cemetary.
So many posters keep saying they had no problem with getting rid of From Dixie with Love because of the idiots screaming out TSWRA but then keeping downplaying it as if it has no meaning and was a no issue.
Ole Miss isnt the only institution that has to deal with these type issues. Florida St. always has issues with the Seminole. They just happen to have the tribes on their side.

I don't think I've ever hated a reporter as much as I hate her. Seriously. I wanted to throw things at her when she was advocating that Kentucky keep a 2 win Joker last season just because he was black.

Not really an issue though when the tribe is telling everyone who has a problem with it to STFU. The only people who get offended by things like that are white people who feel guilty for whatever reason.

I don't think I've seen anyone in here say TSWRA has no meaning or wasn't an issue. As many have stated before, there was a group of idiots who refused to quit doing it. It should have been banned from being yelled.

Oh I know. I was just saying it wouldn't surprise me if they hadn't entertained the thought though.
It also wouldn't surprise me if the administration promised scholarships to grad school or law school to the former ASB members to get them to vote for Colonel Reb to be removed as the name for Homecoming King.
