Unless we know for sure that Tobias, Dodson, snoop, Jeff Scott, or Shepard have actually done this, lets not start bashing them. Right not it's all speculation. I agree tho pat forde and Wolkien are clearly out to get ole miss. But at the end of the day, if we put ourselves in a situation for those 2 counts to bring us down, we have done a terrible job and deserve it.

Didn't he credit Freeze for turning his life around etc? Making him give a damn and pushing himself to excel. I remember a big piece on that.

I thought this as well...
My dad (who doesn't do the internet at all) told me yesterday that "Some big investment banker in Memphis that is a booster was being approached. Then he mentioned former players talking to people about their time at Ole Miss" Don't know the guy who gave my dad info but thought it was funny my dad was aware of it, because his source of info is head to head radio or me haha

Wasn't Jeff Scott sent home and not allowed to play in the bowl game?
Because his mom had a head cold?

Tobias set all sorts of records at Jackson State. Let me see if I can find them.

Jeff Scott has a picture of him coming out of the tunnel in OM gear as his FB profile. Hard to imagine he will have a lot of damaging words for the program. When is media days anyway? Ready to get this over with.

So I guess Rosebowl came out today and said he thinks we get a 2 year bowl ban and that Kiffen will get canned.

Regardless of what happens and what sanctions are handed down, I will be glad to be done with having to read about that fat druggie's opinions on the Ole miss investigation in these message boards. Like most people here, I have several friends who graduated from State and I think the general consensus among them is that most people agree that he is trashy and kind of embarrassing for their fan base, but he has been all about this investigation and taking down Ole Miss so they do occasionally listen to what he has to say. No matter what happens, please let us be rid of having to hear anything about that guy or his opinions.

If we get anything over what we proposed, we should sue the NCAA and reference Miami, North Carolina, and Auburn... all of which had much worse crimes of substance and were hit with nothing.

Now it's Kiffen, Nix and Farrar gone....these guys won't let up with any attempt to put doubt into recruits.

Can we actually sue on those grounds?

Considering what we paid to have legal council walking through the entire process, I wouldn't look for the NCAA to deviate too much.
I believe they know they are on weak ground to give out anything major, without the possibility of a lawsuit to follow.
The whole paying for players never materialized. The only school in Mississippi that has appeared to attempt to pay for a player is state, and that didn't work out with Cam.
TV bans and bowl bans are going to be difficult for the NCAA to hand out. If these offenses are worthy of such sanctions, then the NCAA will have to do some back tracking to be consistent with their penalties. There are been little to no mention of lack of institutional control, which would be necessary for any major sanctions.
Either way, it's still going to be difficult for state to beat Ole Miss while CHF is coaching at Ole Miss. I'm just hoping he is a little pissed about the negative publicity and plays to beat everyone as bad as the Rebels are able. Then they can all go and cry about how he is a bad sport for running up the scores.
Which he will reply, "It's not my job to coach the opposing team, all I can do is coach our team."
I think the Ol' ball coach used that once, when he was at Florida.

Absolutely, assuming we can get actual facts and prove that schools like Miami and Auburn committed more violations than us. But if we can prove that, there is a potential lawsuit there. Private organizations (which the NCAA is) typically have a lot of power to punish it's members with little actual legal oversight, but at the end of the day the private organization must treat/punish all it's members fairly. If we can prove that Miami, Auburn, etc. where let off while breaking more rules, we could argue/prove that the NCAA acting arbitrarily.

Highly doubt that, but there seems to be plenty of precedent for procedural and ethical issues LINK

Until his May 2012 retirement, Johanningmeier was one of the NCAA's top cops. His role in the UM case adds further evidence to suspicions that regulators didn't play fair.
quote:
Take when he was tapped in 2000 to probe the University of Alabama's recruitment of a Memphis player named Albert Means. A Crimson Tide booster paid $150,000 to the defensive tackle's high school coaches to seal Means' commitment to Alabama.

the NCAA's ammo all came from secret witnesses the accused were never allowed to confront.
quote:
"And they tell you what you can't talk about and what you shouldn't say, and the next day, it's leaked out."
quote:
their lawyers discovered the secret source for the bulk of the accusations: a recruiting scout who had no evidence. Johanningmeier had originally contacted the source on a tip from the head coach at Alabama rival the University of Tennessee. The Bama coaches had essentially been railroaded based on the questionable testimony of a single unsubstantiated source with a conflict of interest.
The Bama assistants went on to win a $30 Million judgement, which was later thrown out but on a technicality. Ironically enough the story goes on to talk about the NCAA case against Jackie Sherril and their unethical use of an Ole Miss booster as the "secret witness". Sherril's lawsuit against the NCAA had yet to go to trial as of the writing.

Sherrill's lawsuit is about 10 years old? If so, it's probably been dismissed.

Well here we go guys. Coonass has officially let go of the vagueness rumors and has stated the following
"I'm telling you 100%- they are getting a bowl ban."
