I think I'd need full buy-in to the religion as a whole to really be able to view things from that angle

Christianity itself is not a religion, it's a relationship.

There are lots of religions, but Christianity isn't one of them.

I've never been a part of a church that omitted the horrors of the Old Testament.

I've never been to a church that discussed it. It's been years since I've attended regularly though. But I did up until I was probably 19, and then it cut in half once I got to college.

Usually on adult Sunday school classes Deuteronomy, Leviticus, Kings ect are all covered on a yearly basis.

I've never attended one that was bible focused that didn't.

Sermons from the pulpit normally cover topics and scripture that are relevant in today's world. Obviously, pointing out that there is a sanitary issue when a woman is menstrating is not needed in modern times. Nor is pointing out that a woman should be punished if she helps her husband cheat in a fight by grabbing and twisting her husbands opponents testicles......well, unless you're in Florida

I'd stick around. Maybe he'd do something novel and innovative, like replace the cross with a giant phallus or something. Or at least spruce up the floral arrangement in the sanctuary.

Probably allow women to speak in the church and hold positions of power. This is what is taught in the bible. I don't get to pick and choose what to believe in the bible, as it IS Gods word, 100%!

Paul also speaks against homosexuality in the New Testament.

We are gentiles, not jews. We don't have to follow Levitical law. There is a major difference between Mosaic, Levitical, and New Testament law.

The American denominations have terrible theology for the most part when it comes to Biblical law, and apologetics.
