OK, I see what you are saying, but no insurance company or federal reimbursement is going to be giving them 10,000 for that 10,000 bill. They may be lucky to get 1000. Why a hospital charges so much when they know the reimbursment is only going to be a fraction of the charges, I don't know, especial...

IMHO it matters whether or not the hospital is making an obscene profit or is just squeaking by. If they are making an obscene profit (very few do), then they are overcharging on these line items. If they are just squeaking by, then what is your solution? Close the hospitals? And yes you can say "...

I didn't know that PIPs were used on the personal level. I've used them for decreasing ER TATs for labwork before, where a team from ER and one from the lab got together and drastically decreased ER turn-around-times. And several other hospital projects. Usually work very well. ...
