well you all can talk til you're blue in the face but as someone who knows a recent aggie graduate, i have zero doubt that her grades/scores were no better than the few texans at fayetteville i know. i know, i know there are exceptions.

Absolutely there are exceptions.
And I don't doubt what you say for a minute.
Arkansas is a good school.
But speaking in broad terms--apart from family reasons/ties--the kids who attend public universities out of state do so as a result of numbers in Texas.

I know plenty of people with some impressive "hard to earn" degrees who scored high on ACT/SAT, had good GPA, etc. who are dumb as box of hammers when it comes to applying knowledge to real life situations. FWIW.

that's very true but the person i'm talking about has plenty of common sense and isn't stupid at all. i just know for a fact her grades weren't that great.

This is about kids not getting into Texas, so I'm pretty sure it's not about Arkansas.
If it was about kids who didn't get into Texas, didn't get into A&M, couldn't afford SMU, didn't get into Oklahoma, got rejected by UGA, Auburn, and Alabama, then got wait listed at LSU and Ole Miss, then I'd assume it was about Arkansas.
