no idea about incentives but I'm 100% certain some TX kids are being offered in-state tuition rates at both Bama and Auburn.

I qualify as one of those kids. I only applied to Auburn, but I'm guessing that I would have received in-state as well if I applied to Bama because it happened to a few friends of mine from high school.

There are a few of them in Georgia as well. I believe we are first on number of students enrolled at UGA outside of the state of Georgia. It is nice having places to stay though at every away game because of friends from high school that went to school all around the SEC.

Texans are all over the SEC. We have over 1k at Ole Miss. Tennessee, Georgia, and Louisiana round out the top 5.

Yeah we've got a few thousand, not sure of the exact number. Can't throw a rock on campus without hitting someone from Houston.

"Minorities are grossly underrepresented in our state schools"

This is not correct. The percentage of Asians in Texas universities well exceeds their percentage of the population. Asians are a minority although the media would lead you to believe that only blacks and Hispanics are. The issue that no one ever discusses is why Asians easily get in based on merit, yet blacks and Hispanics need a crutch to get admitted.

They say that UT only has 21% Hispanics yet they make up 38% of the Texas population. They also forget to state that half of that 38% do not even graduate from high school, so how are they going to go to UT?

Lower the bar and expect lower results. Then watch the rest of the world continue to pass us by. Our education system is full of educated people who don't know shite.

Observing the Houston vs Dallas debates is always great entertainment. I brought it up one time and they went on for a good 40 minutes about which city was better.

In Garland tx, which has about 7 high schools, they ship all the gifted and talented students to to one high school. So as a high school student, you are competing against all the gifted students the city has to offer at that high school. To be in the top 10% is very difficult. There are a lot of kids that score 1300-1500 on SATs that cannot get into Texas and/or A&M because they are not top 10. My son and about 10 of his friends got full rides to LSU. I understand that about 100 kids from DFW area get scholarships to LSU each year.

I guess this helps explain the surge in Texas kids in Tuscaloosa the last several years. I know Bama recruited Texas heavily for students, but this dumb rule probably has something to do with it too.

I knew plenty of rich dumb suburban kids that went to Arkansas. Plano West 07, my year didn't have a ton, but 08 did. Quite a few good looking ones too. A girl who was friends with my girlfriend probably made a lot of piggies happy in her run.

I only knew one girl from my high school that went to Bama and she was dumb as a post. But it definitely has something to do with it. White kids don't even account for 50% of the student body at tu. Can you imagine if the majority of Alabama's student body was non-white? Y'all would have to discontinue Greek Life.
