It is insignificant on the scale being discussed.

Vaccine revenues have been declining as a percent of total pharm revenue since 1994.

There is no potential for massive growth in vaccine revenues as a percent of pharm revenue.

Hipgnosis is very obviously delusional. He keeps arguing with me on the Mizzou board in the most stupid way. Just one of those people who will never accept realities.

No one is sure you're a good judge of reality. But we appreciate all viewpoints.

Pretty sure I see reality just fine. I appreciate different viewpoints, even when I have a differing opinion. For example, I enjoy the discussion on gun control. Both sides have legitimate arguments and points that are made. We differ in opinion, but both realize that there is validity to the others argument. That is not the case with this discussion currently.

According to the GAO, annual federal climate spending has increased from $4.6 billion in 2003 to $8.8 billion in 2010, amounting to $106.7 billion over that period. The money was spent in four general categories: technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, science to understand climate changes, international assistance for developing countries, and wildlife adaptation to respond to actual or expected changes. Technology spending, the largest category, grew from $2.56 billion to $5.5 billion over this period, increasingly advancing over others in total share. Data compiled by Joanne Nova at the Science and Policy Institute indicates that the U.S. Government spent more than $32.5 billion on climate studies between 1989 and 2009. This doesn’t count about $79 billion more spent for climate change technology research, foreign aid and tax breaks for “green energy.”

I laugh when people try to say follow the money when it comes to climate and site climate study expenditures while completely ignoring the money from the oil and coal industry. Especially since oil companies have a record of promoting junk science for profit, remember when they said lead was actually good for you.

It's still a 24 billion dollar industry.
In Texas, governor "Slick Rick" Perry MANDATED that 11- and 12-year-old girls in Texas get the HPV vaccine.

It was obvious to all of us that the benevolent Slick Rick was concerned about protecting these little girls against a sexually transmitted disease that causes cervical cancer.

It had nothing whatsoever to do with money. Why can't you see this?

It's a drop in he bucket.

This is why I love this board. Outside of a kindergarten playground, you can't get this kind of "reasoning."

Gardasil has an impeccable safety record and reduces ones lifetime risk of cervical cancer by 99.7% and head and neck cancer by 48%.

It works, regardless of how much money it makes.

Gardasil has an impeccable safety record
12,424 reported adverse events between June 2006 and December 2008 - included 19 cases of pulmonary embolism, four of which were fatal. Overall, 772 events as serious and included 32 reported deaths.

reduces ones lifetime risk of cervical cancer
Gardasil has been shown to provide protection against persistent cervical HPV 16/18 infections for up to 8 years, which is the maximum time of research follow-up thus far.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that most girls live more than eight years. Your claim of safety in ones "lifetime risk" is consistent with your previous uninformed posts.

quote:

reduces ones lifetime risk of cervical cancer by 99.7%
Those choosing not to take the vaccine reduced their lifestime risk of cervical cancer by 99.3% (0.7% of women will be diagnosed with cervical cancer in their lifetime).

Through lobbying efforts, Merck has suggested that governments make vaccination with Gardasil mandatory for school attendance.

It's all about your safety!

You're right, I don't. That's why I took the information straight from Wiki. Isn't that the "credible" "go-to" source you guys like to use?

You really shouldn't present things into evidence that you don't understand. In this case, you clearly don't understand how the reporting of adverse events works.

Again, speaking of that which you lack understanding of.

HPV is acquired during the prime sexual years (15-26) in an estimated 95% of those infected. Thus, a woman vaccinated and immune during this period drastically reduces her chances of ever getting HPV and thus ever getting cervical cancer.

Moreover, 8 years is simply the max study time to date.

99.3% of women never get cervical cancer. Of those, 99% who take the vaccine never get cervical cancer. Some, however, will die from the vaccine, but frick that, let's make it mandatory to take it........for your safety.

Nobody has ever died from the vaccine. People who got the vaccine have died however.

This is what I meant by you not understanding adverse events

Even Slimy Slick Rick Perry admitted he made a mistake in mandating the vaccine.

ETA: Hell, even CDC chairman Jon Abramson said he didn't think the vaccine should be mandatory.

Not everyone is driven by fear or profit.

It shouldn't be mandatory

Doesn't change the fact that everything else you've posted in this thread is incorrect
