See, to me, that's pathetic. I believe one of the tenets of a civilized society is a respect for its government and its traditions. Notwithstanding any legal basis for or against it, it's disturbing to me that my generation has so much apathy and such a morally relativistic viewpoint.

What about the viewpoint dealing with celebrating oppressive symbols?

Why is a state flag or the confederate flag a complete disrespect of the large portion of the population. See this is what wrong with you people. You think that these flags mean something that they don't. The idea behind the Confederacy in general was for state rights. It had nothing to do with slavery but every damn liberal in the world would want you to think that. The flag represents States Rights, the damn Civil War was not about Slavery and some people really need to go back and read there history books. The north was getting there arse kicked until the French made them give up there slaves for support. This has nothing to do with slavery or racism and before you go off the hinges about the Klan they are small minor sect, that has no power whatsoever.

Too much historical fact here. Prepare for downvotes.

No, dumbass. You think you understand the point. That is more dangerous than people who know they are ignorant.

There is NOTHING you can offer in terms of reason/logic that refutes my arguments in this thread.

The guy said to another poster that if he thought the battle flag had any redeaming qualities, he failed at life. The only reason anyone would feel that way about a flag is because he or she was offended by it. Why was he/she offended? Why would another person want to use that flag to offend?

The battle flag only carries the meaning people asign to it.

Did I miss the point, you little shite? Please instruct me you cocksucking genius. What fricking point have I been missing? Enlighren me, mensa.

What in the hell do you think is irrelevant about a black man being lynched by white supremacists?

It happened in the 90s. It's a terrible, terrible thing, no doubt. Still not relevant since the rebel flag in this context =/= white supremacy.

I got BAD news for you, Chief, the n!zzers is off the plantation now, and their opinions matter

Why are you insinuating that I'm a racist?

Well, probably because their social activists have been overrun by people who are indeed racist. Forgive me, it's hard to take some of it seriously when you have people raising a stink because a dean of a school accidentally says "All lives matter" instead of "Black lives matter".

Powerful imagery you provided there though.

Why is it so fricking hard to come up with a flag that everyone likes?

Again, that's not particularly relevant to this discussion.

What else can we do to offend and manipulate black people and make them mad or feel oppressed? ~ Klan

Don't you get it? Being offended is the ultimate act of weakness and ignorance. It is the EXACT OPPOSITE of reason/logic.

Slow down there chief. You are deviating from my point about the American flag. I said it is sad that someone would be apathetic about a school's student government voting to take down an American flag at a state school.

Liberals will eventually have to address real problems like "Why are most democrats still poor after 7 years of a democratic presidency."

I wouldn't agree with it....but it would be their prerogative if there is nothing legally requiring them to fly it.

What if flying it offended someone?

...and you had to edit your post to say that?

Also..."outgunned" is one word. Before you attempt to dive into intellectual smack-talk, you might want to improve your grammar.

Thanks for the meaningless statement. Of course it would be their prerogative in such a scenario. That doesn't preclude me from having an opinion about the degradation of our society, though.

That is what this is all about. It's simply a deflection from the real issues facing us.

Hopefully the state legislature halts funding and the SEC revokes their charter on the grounds of being irrelevant pussies.
