much too enjoyable watching you smash your hands on your keyboard in an attempt to prove whatever illogical point you've been trying to make.
What's enjoyable is watching you tapdance around acting like you know a secret that I don't know. It's a classic defense mechanism employed by adolescents. Another part of your defense mechanism is throwing your pursuers off your secent by throw out non-sequitur bullshite (bet you don't know why I used the hyphen on non sequitur)--irrelevant and imaterial bullshite like improper usage (why do I use the em dash?)--all to protect your fragile sense of self worth (not hyphenated).
I am really enjoying watching you cling to your defense mechanism because It tells me that you know you are going to get your arse kicked. You probably developed this defense mechanism at an early age to help you cope with an abusive older sibling. You are avoiding the real argument because you know you can't win. You are not fooling anybody.
I will let you continue your efforts to unwittingly grant additional power and control to racists to use historically benign symbols to annoy and oppress. Have fun.

I've never heard ONE black person down south complain about that flag, now all of a sudden they are upset.
You haven't paid attention.
No black person down south I've known has ever NOT had a problem with that flag, tbh.

No you don't. Happened in 1983.

That symbol stands for white supremacy and oppression for 40% of the residents of Mississippi. You seem to think that 40% is irrelevant.
I don't understand why this is such a difficult concept to grasp.
Instead of trying to persuade *other white people* that the flag is harmless, maybe try listening to all the nonwhite people who strongly disagree.
Is the Confederate flag really worth expending so much energy to defend?
Are we afraid Yankees will take away our grits next?
Honestly, allowing Mizzou into the SEC is far more troubling than whether the Confederate flag disappears from the public square.

A conveniently "forgotten" fact is the military role that RUSSIA played in helping the north win.
There is an old but true saying that the winners write history.
Research California's flag. It has a very racist origin!

So much stupid in that quote. Another obtuse person that thinks the rebel flag is unequivocally synonymous with racial hatred. He also ignores the fact that the "N word" is used more by the black populace than any other sect. Just because you mispronounce & misspell the word, it doesn't change the meaning. If it is so offensive, then don't use it in any shape or form. Stop your own culture from using it first, then focus on others. You're just showing your ignorance when you berate others for doing something you continue to do yourself.
Dude don't be stupid. When blacks use that word that aren't using it to piss people off, insult them, to get a reaction, to pick a fight. I've never heard of a black calling another black "ni**a to get him to fight, or to make that person upset, etc. N*gga is used like homie, cuz, bro, etc.
When racists use it the word is the KEY word to get a reaction. They use it to belittle the person, to piss them off, to get a negative reaction. Ni**er is used like coon, monkey, spook, jiggaboo, etc. See the difference.
Sorta like when a female call another female a bitch, hey bitch what's up, or "you crazy bitch".
Now a man calls a female a bitch to insult her, get a reaction, etc.
It's not hard to figure simple stuff like that out.

If your family member died under that flag, then yes. Now if you living in Idaho, Montana, have no connections to the south, only use the flag for your hateful militia groups, then no.

Too be honest with you, I know a lot of conservatives don't like it either. Lets keep it real.

All of this. Posted something similar on the OTB yesterday.
I have no problem with the n-word, regardless of the race of the person who says it. Pretty easy to tell whether it's being used as a pejorative or not.

There's a Confederate flag flying near I-5 in Ridgeland, WA about 30 miles from my house in Oregon.
It's on *private* property but easily visible from the freeway. It's a relocated monument from the old Jefferson Davis Highway that used to run all the way to New Orleans.
There will never be a shortage of Confederate memorials. Go visit the battlefields in Vicksburg and Gettysburg. The monuments erected by both sides are incredible.
We don't need the flag in the *public* square. Battlefields are a completely acceptable place though.

Tbird. I am glad you are here.
As you know, I have no love for the confederate battle flag. Stay? Go? IDGAF. But, as I was saying earlier, I think the best way to get rid of an offensive symbol is to make it ineffective or change its meaning so that those using the symbol will abandon it. My example was to leave the state flags alone, but get the gay pride movement to take up the battle flag as their symbol. Do that and watch it disappear from the backs of trashy POS pickups driving all over the place.
My more important point is that taking offense, and being affectd by symbols intended to offend, lends power to the intentional offenders. Removing the power of the offensive symbol vetos the offender's power. As long as first-amendment protections prevent us from banning offensive symbols, offenders will exploit them. The better practice is to repurpose the symbol.
If the NAACP adopted the battle flag as their banner, the longhorns...err...klan, would never use it again. The power is gone.
What say ye?
