Given the historical context of the term Ole Miss I wonder how long until the University drops that name completely.

Hopefully the state legislature halts funding and the SEC revokes their charter on the grounds of being irrelevant pussies.

thank the Almighty we don't have "informed, educated' 20-yr olds running the country...I cant believe the audacity of 18, 19, 20 and 21 year olds thinking they have a "grasp" on life and feel the "oppressed"....GAG! They don't know anything; NOTHING about life. Yep, continue to pass judgment on people and their ways of the 19th century (no, I don't support slavery--what a disgusting thing, even though it still occurs in the world...how about raising hell about that!!) using 21st century logic...Just remember, jerk-wads, the kind of "world" you "think" you want can never be...there will all ways be someone in charge doing what they want...and throughout history, that means killing anyone that gets in the way....anyone. Go ask your buddies about Che, Lenin, Mao, Castro, and the like. You think you are "oppressed" here....go hang out in some place that those guys aforementioned used to run and see if you are "oppressed" or not...so, go to school, do your studies and SHUT UP!!!

No Corky. I didn't get that at all. I interpreted it as their feel good politics is laughable in the face of the reality of history.

Well it is kinda deserved. Ole Miss is associated with alot of bad things.

Like losing to Memphis in football, claiming a West division championship when you didn't win it, cocaine & STDs, etc.

Ole Miss - great name - check
Rebels - harmless nickname referring back to the Civil War - check
Mississippi state flag with the confederate flag as a part of it - abhorrent - let's get rid of it - check

Good for the students. The flag isn't the original state flag. It was adopted in 1924. It was changed then and can be changed again.
