I rest my case. They were pop and just more fluff for the radio stations.

They weren't "pop" when it was released. That album changed the definition of what was "pop" by itself. Warrant, White Snake, etc was pop rock prior to Nirvana.

eh, maybe. But it wouldn't have gotten discovered without the overnight success of Nevermind.

There probably would have been a hella lot better music played and better artists if the airways wasn't clogged with their shite.

Radio actually played decent music in those days.

Who's upset? I was just stating an opinion. Even getting agreement and mad at me for being right.

I gotta admit, I got a little upset with Chris Cornell being referred to in past tense

He and Vedder can still sing the classics together too.

It's funny, cuz I hated 90's music for the most part for a long time, but now realize how much good music there was. Cobain excluded..

We are in such a music wasteland now, that it makes anything seem good.
The 90s weren't bad as far as music, but the 80s music was much better

Know who else was better than Cobain and Nirvana?

As much as I like Nirvana, I never liked how Cobain was made into this rock martyr because he offed himself before his band ever got the chance to make a shitty record like the rest of his peers (and every other band, eventually). He's basically benefited from the James Dean effect and every good quality about him has been far overstated and exaggerated. Far and away his best talent was songwriting, and he and Grohl have gone on record more than once saying they just tried to mimic the Pixies throughout most of Nirvana.

Cobain was a good singer. You can sometimes find live performances showcasing his versatility and range in a way he never showed on the albums. But most importantly, he was really unique at the time. All of the big grunge singers sounded really good and unique. People make fun of Cobain and Vedder because they inspired the likes of Creed, Nickelback, and Puddle of Mudd with their style. Cornell, on the other hand, almost can't be mimicked because he was just that good, so I give him the nod as the best grunge singer.

In all my years a fan, there are only two bands I can find with singers who can sound anything like Cornell, whereas the Vedder/Cobain imitators are dime-a-dozen:

Operator - Soulcrusher (sounds more like Audioslave era Cornell)

Farmikos - Scapegoat (this sounds like a more Sabbathy version of pre-Badmotorfinger Soundgarden, both in the music and the quality of the guy's voice)

This is my favorite Audioslave song.
Cornell is amazing. Sounds just as good live as in studio

I started to link that one earlier. He's got a pretty distinct sound and is pretty talented.
