and really didn't hold a candle to a lot of other singers to come out of the grunge era.

He had that good, druggy, hopeless quality to his voice. His voice was pretty much made for that fusion of punk and metal/pop. Chris Cornell was great, but that doesn't mean Cobain couldn't wail just as good.

Janis Joplin has a similar hopeless quality in her voice. Lotta drugs to get that. Late stage Brad Nowell had the same lazy, hopeless quality.

I agree. He just mumbled and acted depressed. Pearl Jam, Temple of the dog were much better

Nevermind is one of the best rock albums of all time. Yeah, it got radio'd to death, but that's because it was incredible.
