I will when it comes to having an opinion on whether the flag should fly on state property.

But if a majority of voters approve it flying there, I will call the majority of voters in SC ignorant rednecks.

South Carolina has the right to fly whatever flag they see fit at the capital. I also have the right to criticize the decision to do so.

The flag is a symbol of racial oppression in the United States. From the civil war fought partially over slavery to the white power structure during the Civil Rights movement. The people who hold to the symbol are typically those who's beliefs represent all the things about the south that I'm ashamed of. I love the south and hate the idea of a flag with a history of hatred attached being used a symbol of southern pride.

The people should choose to take it down!

Gov Haley just had a press conference. She said that if the house and senate don't pass a resolution on the flag, she was call for a special session and try to get this matter resolved by July 4th.

Both parties are uniting together (for the most part) to bring the flag down (off the state cap grounds.) This looks more like it's going to happen.

Now the NCAA will have tournaments in SC, it will be easier to get a bowl game in SC, and the NAACP can stop their boycott.

SC's President Pastides (also the NCAA President) and our AD Ray Tanner called for the battle flag of northern virginia to be removed today as well.

Good. I knew it would come down sooner rather than later. It's nice to see both sides unified on the issue.

Ok my first post was sarcasm

This one isn't

It's a fricking flag, get over it, some people use it as a symbol of hate and some as a symbol of our past, what you have is a problem with people not the flag itself but of what a certain segment of people use the flag to represent. Absurd comparison alert let's get rid of cotton, bbq, whips, and sprituals because they all represent slavery.

How is BBQ connected to slavery?

The owners financed everything, they wouldn't spend money on BBQ and the ingredients/time to prepare. Where did you ever hear that? Most slaves ate stews and variations of 1-pot meals.

Some slaves were preparing low country southern meals for the owners, but they weren't cooking up ribs, or whole hogging for their fellow slaves.

BBQ's beginnings stemmed from the creation of meals for the common folks using less expensive cuts of pork and beef. Common folks, not slaves. It goes way back to spanish and french settlers in the south east, pre british colonial days in some parts.
