The correct answer to both is India
The origin of the Swastika was India where it was a symbol of good fortune and it is still a sacred symbol for 3 - 5 religions in the world today (most notably Hinduism and Buddhism).
Little Black Sambo was a character intended to foster a Indian nation free from British rule. I read Little Black Sambo as a child and in every story the little boy (representing India) outwits the Tiger (representing Britain). Sambo was not African and had nothing to do with Africa, America, or Africans in America.
If I were an Indian native I would be pissed at African Americans for getting a book banned that had nothing to do with them and destroying a major factor in Indian freedom.

In a historical context, I think they should. I don't agree one bit with the way they pretty much completely ban the image as if somehow that's going to erase a decade of history. Making the display of that symbol a criminal offense (to the point many model airplane makers don't even include it in kits sold in Germany) certainly hasn't eliminated the neo-nazi movement in Germany.

If I had been brown and not white I would have married my childhood sweetheart who was one of the hottest women I ever met. Her parents were Indian tho and they said no, even tho they liked me and my family as I was neither Indian or a Hindu. Yes, it's probably the best food in Key West. I have a few more but, it's a small island so discovery is limited.

Might have happened if we had met in college, but as teenagers both families were big on getting into a good college so elopement was not really a possibility. She wound up married to another Indian she met via my sister after college when they lived together in Chicago.

1. Saying what happened in Charleston is terrorism like AQ, ansar Al Sharia, Hezbollah, Tamil Tigers etc proves you understand nothing about what happened in Charleston and nothing about Militant Islam.
2. Comparing The Confederacy to Terrorism sic a war for slavery, is like saying a Salfist hates us because of pornography and our "Freedom". Proving....you know nothing about The Civil War nor Islamic Terrorism.
Get real people, 350K would not fight and die to keep slaves they did not own and kept them economically disadvantaged.
Muslims don't hate us because of Pepsi Cola and Maxim.

The current Alabama state flag was adopted in the 1890s. Though there is some debate on just why its design was chosen (as you note), most concede that it was probably picked due to its similarity to the battle flag. We need to get with the times and change it.
