I'm curious to find out who y'all think is coming here to replace him? Most people on her claim that there is no talent on the team. There is zero fan support and this goes back to the Frank Haith days. It's been years since we had winning years. Who wants to take over a talentless team, with zero fan support. By this logic your best hope is to hire Ben Jacobson from Northern Iowa to come to MU and coach and I don't see that happening.

Mizzou's AD operated with 4.6 million surplus last year. There is money to spend on a new coach.
Mizzou also has a new AD, the last AD had a reputation as being hard to work with.
As for names: Sampson from Houston. Has familiarity with MR.
Drew from Valpo. He's been their conference coach of the year twice in his 5 years.
Masiello from Manhattan.
Underwood at Stephen F Austin

If we brought in a decent coach like Marshall, it could turn heads and maybe gain support for the program.

Sampson? No f'ing thank you. He would be like hiring Haith. Guy will always have an NCAA cloud over his head. He breaks rules. That is the last thing we need in Columbia. I really think Marshall is holding out for a plumb job like a UNC, UK, Indiana type opening all of which could be open in the near future.

If we had hired or would hire Marshall, I would buy season tickets. Now, I turn away free tickets because it's not worth the drive.

You left out a program that just stupidly slapped themselves with post season and scholarship sanctions but are still waiting for the NCAA hammer to drop which could take a good long time.

And Marshall has made it very clear he is not interested in coming here. I don't know why. Maybe he's just goofy?

I could be wrong but the things Sampson did that got him in trouble aren't even against NCAA rules anymore.

I actually have talked to a couple of people who were involved in this at a low boots on the ground level. Something did happen, but it's not much compared to what happens at Auburn by 10:00 AM on any given Monday. The stupidity and naivete with which the administration handled this is amazing.

Well, let's slow it down a little here. We would still have to rebuild after the damage Haith and Kim did to the program. We would be more competitive but I doubt we got to 20 wins next year even with Marshall.

It would show me that they truly are committed to winning though and that's what matters. I can handle bad. I struggle to support historically bad.

You just gave me an idea for a MIZZOU themed sports bar, we'll have rubber walls, bricks at arms reach for the several TV's that can be destroyed when the situation calls for such destruction, framed pictures of the "5th down", "Tyus Edney", "Flea Kicker", etc. and all of us sorry fricks can go there rather than destroying our own shite, I figure a door cover on game day of $25 but still cheaper than trashing your man cave.

I like the way this man thinks. Is your bar finished yet?

I wouldn't say it's a talentless team. There's lots of talent, just no one that's a number 1 type talent. Everyone is best suited being a complimentary piece. I wrongly thought that Wright & Gant would be able to make that jump this year. That didn't happen.
If a number 1 is added to the roster or one it the guards develops that the team next year can be NIT good.

Well when Wichita didn't have there star earlier this year we saw how bad they were. With our current roster we would be better but he still would not get more than 3 or 4 additional wins out of this group.

I'm with family tonight. One is a basketball coach. He is trying to convince me that KA is "doing a great job" and that it takes a new coach 4-6 years to turn a program around. Especially when it's as bad as Mizzou. For the record, he despised Haith; he's blaming Haith for the mess, still.

I agreed to disagree, changed the subject and made dinner.

Depends on the definition of turn a program around. OU is in its 5th year with Kruger. His first class are seniors now. He had them winning by year 2, but weren't really a top 25 team until this year. KA has to start winning, preferably a few games this year. If he doesn't do that he won't reap the rewards of having "his" guys as upperclassmen.

Mizzou wasn't in nearly as bad of shape as some make it out to be. They were just a couple years removed from 30 wins and a tourney appearance. Hindsight says Haith and Fuller created some headaches we suspected but didn't know about. But this program was no where near a dead last in the SEC type of program. A .500 team? I could understand that.

He got out before it got bad bc he knew he didn't have a strong recruiting class. Tim Fuller also said that they took transfers to band aid over the lack of a recruiting class and a major overhaul was in the works.

The coach's poll picked Mizzou to finish last. At least 1 coach thought Tulsa was a more appealing job. People in the industry seemed to disagree with where the program was.

So you think they would've picked us last no matter what coach we hired?

Haith had sanctions being dropped on us. I don't think he thought, well Tulsa is a better job......
