So you think they would've picked us last no matter what coach we hired?
Yes. Unless you have unbelievable talent, it is hard to win without a balanced roster. You need some older players and you need a good mix of post players and ball handlers.

I don't think he thought, well Tulsa is a better job
I agree, but based on the state of the program he would rather be at Tulsa. He knew things were going to be bad so he decided to get a longer contract. I think coaches talk and the rumor mill was probably going.

The roster problems this year are basically the same as last year.
Offensively the leading scorer is a PF that best from mid-range, doesn't command double teams. Lacks a guy that can get his on a nightly basis.
Still have too many guys that aren't strong enough.
Whether it's KA or a new coach I think we are 2 years away from having a roster that will truly be able to compete against P5 teams.

You just gave me an idea for a MIZZOU themed sports bar, we'll have rubber walls, bricks at arms reach for the several TV's that can be destroyed when the situation calls for such destruction, framed pictures of the "5th down", "Tyus Edney", "Flea Kicker", etc. and all of us sorry fricks can go there rather than destroying our own shite, I figure a door cover on game day of $25 but still cheaper than trashing your man cave.

Could call it NutShotz

I'm with family tonight. One is a basketball coach. He is trying to convince me that KA is "doing a great job" and that it takes a new coach 4-6 years to turn a program around. Especially when it's as bad as Mizzou. For the record, he despised Haith; he's blaming Haith for the mess, still. I agreed to disagree, changed the subject and made dinner.

4-6 years?

A Max of 4 years. By year 4 your entire team should be players you recruited and know your system.

Also in 6 years KA will be like 70

I'm ok giving KA one more year to prove himself.
It took him 4 years to build his program at CMSU. His first 2 years were only 11-12 win seasons.
His recruiting is better than given credit. Phillips freshman stats are similar to that of Flip. Jackson & maybe Smith/Barnett should be instant contributors/upgrades to what we have next year. 1 number 1 type of player in the incoming class can make Mizzou competitive next year.
Having said that I get excited about some of the names out there as replacements. The NCAA issues may keep the better options from giving Mizzou a real chance.

Define competitive. If competitive, you mean making the tourney and giving even the best teams a good game, I have to see it to believe it. If by competitive you mean being .500, I even doubt that. If by competitive you mean losing by less than 10 points more times than you lose by more then 10, I might buy that.

I like aspects of Phillips. I think he'll be a solid player. Not a star. Definitely not a scorer, but that's not his job. Puryear, while I like him, I think many expected too much from him after that first good game he had. He's a role player. Not THE player.

Is it possible that, before the year is over, we will have ZERO players averaging double digits?

Anyone see any noticeable drop off in the team between Gant/Woods and walkon Adam Wolf? I didn't. That tells you something.
