What impressed me was the way they came back after the long rain delay. Martinez was a rock. As Madden said, the small bears were "schooled".

Checkingin from my rainy night at Busch.

Dude ran on the field during the first delay, gorilla smacked on the tarp roller thingy a few times, multiple ushers fell in his pursuit. I laughed.

Enough rain delays already.Jesus Quintana's long lost brother shut down the offense again last night.

Scouting director fired.Admitted to hacking Astros database, but only to verify whether Astros stole data.Damn.

Yeah, I really believe they didn't do it for any gains as an organization -- but not sure if I buy the fact he was only checking to see if they stole data. I think he was trying to gain free info and pass it off as his own, but that's only speculation.

A shame, I thought he ran a great draft this year.

I was really hoping Kantrovitz was involved, and I still believe he may have been, but he's gone now anyway.

And.. well played by the Cardinals.

No one is working tomorrow, this is equivalent to a Friday afternoon news dump.

Holiday weekend on top of it.

That may be true, but I doubt Manfred or the FBI will see it that way.I just have a bad feeling there will be some severe penalties handed down to the team.Hope I am wrong. We were told the hacking didn't run very high up the organizational ladder, but the scouting directer is pretty fricking high up the chain.I really liked the player development the team had going, but I'm afraid that is going to take a hit next year.I don't think Mozeliak or DeWitt had any knowledge or involvement, but I didn't think the scouting director was involved either.

Astros aren't even in the same league.Risk just doesn't seem worth the reward to me.Makes the organization look really bad.

FBI has nothing to do with the news release. Cards chose to do it right before everyone was headed out, it's a classic move. They're not trying to subvert the FBI with the move, just the public.

And he was not the scouting director when the hacking took place, allegedly.

You're afraid it's going to take a hit next year? Almost the entire Lunhow era team has been gone since he left 3 years ago. Now with Kantrovitz and Correa gone, yes, it's been almost a total flip, I'm sure they'll hire the right people.

That's irrelevant. Palm to forehead.

They weren't trying to gain a competitive advantage over the Astros, they were looking into the system because Ground Control is the same as Redbird Dog. We can speculate that they were seeing if Lunhow stole proprietary information to build Ground Control, or maybe the ones left behind were trying to see if advancements had been made in the newly created Ground Control. We don't know that, but competitive advantage over the Astros had nothing to do with it.

I get the timing of the news release, but I doubt that will lessen the severity of the penalties.I would think what the FBI finds would have some sort of influence of the penalty handed down from Manfred. You don't think so?

If multiple draft picks are taken away then it is likely the farm system will take a hit.Especially if Manfred feels like dropping the hammer on them to set an example to keep other teams from doing it again.

My impression was Ground Control contained access to scouting reports to players of other teams. That somehow isn't some sort of a competitive advantage?

The timing had nothing to do with lessoning the penalty.

It was intended to lesson the public reaction.

Maybe repeating this will help it sink in?...

Considering you're having a tough time with the easier portion of this, I'm not surprised you're confused here.

You asked why break into a team from another division and league -- which meant why seek a competitive advantage over the Astros. I replied that it has nothing to do with a competitive advantage over the Astros, because it doesn't. I then explained why, which I won't do again.

Thanks for that riveting information.Glad you got it all figured out.

Now you can go back to getting high again.Remember, puff, puff, pass.At least you're finally intelligent enough to not get caught this time.Good thing those "tire inflator things" come in handy, don't they?

PS: Make sure you tell everyone on STL Today I'm a "troll" there too when you finish your next blunt. Not much happening there, so they could use some more entertainment.Cheers.

Wong.

Wow.

Great play.

Changed the entire game.

Guy should be in the all-star game.

Then hits a 2 out RBI.

Steals a base.

Guy's the first truly legit and elite position player we've developed in a long time.

Two days in a row he changes the game with a big defensive play.

Lester not being able to throw to fist is hilarious.

Anybody think Carp may be totally burnt out for good?

He reminds me of a pitcher who requires max effort to be effective, once that velocity fades they're no good.

He requires max effort with every swing, he's not like, Peralta, for example, who has a fluid, easy stroke.

Over time, that max effort takes a toll. I think the toll has been paid, and he's now nothing but a 2 year wonder.

Let's not forget, the guy only hit .270 last year. Which is what he's hitting right now.

Maybe he was able to go hard for '13, while at age 27, and now.. it's burned up. Gone.

What a joke.

That was a strike.

4-2 game turns 5-4 with one bad call.

Glad Molina and Matheny fought back.

Brutal.

I never thought I'd say this, but this team needs Holliday badly. They are running on fumes, and this AAAA help they keep bringing up kept the ship afloat for a while, but the vessel is taking on water.

ASB can't get here soon enough, let's hope for at least a split in Pitt, and get some rest.
