Weren't blue and character committed before?
Posted on 12/6/15 at 11:32 pm to CarolinaCock
Yes, now that a staff is about to be in place, we should try to flip them back.

Character flipped to Auburn and cited T -Rob and Muschamp as big reasons why.

Couple more reactions on Muschamp's hire:
quote:
Will Register - "I was very excited to hear the news about coach Muschamp! He is a great coach."
Pete Leota - “I don't really know the new coach. I'll have to go meet him. USC is still a great school to go to regardless of the coaches. For right now I would say I am 100 percent committed. The other commitments I've talked to in the group chat seem pretty excited about Muschamp. The main thing it is going to keep me at South Carolina is the chemistry I have with the new coaches. And also I want them to keep Shaw Elliott on staff.”

Composite 4* DE Jordan Smith decommits, narrowed down his list to UF & UT.

After talking it over with my family and coaches, I have decided to de-commit from South Carolina. @GamecockFB

Losing Coach Spurrier was tough but losing Coach Ward is tougher. I have narrowed my decision to Tennessee and Florida

Hate it for you, Smith. Ward never would have developed you. Happy trails.

Probably best for his playing career to have missed out on Ward's coaching.

Muschamp on the trail, visited TJ Brunson just a few minutes ago. Will also visit Bryan Edwards tonight as well.

and so it begins. Champ already doing work.

Love to see that he's hitting it hard already. Hopefully we can get a class in the top 50 by the end of things.

TJ's commenting on Muschamps visit:
"They came straight from the press conference," Brunson said. "That's sort of a big deal to go straight out of a press conference and go recruiting and then that they came to me, I thought that was really cool. It shows what they think about me and how much they want me."
"He told me that he wanted to coach me. He extended an offer to me from the current staff. It was cool because he did it."
"He got straight to the point," Brunson said. "He told me everything he thought about me and he was very straightforward about his philosophy. He said they'll run basically a 4-3, but they'll run some 3-4 too and that I have the ability to play as both a one-gap and a two-gap player, so I'm not limited to just one type of style."
"I think he's a great coach," Brunson said. "Ever since I've known about Will Muschamp, I've thought he was a great coach. He's a good recruiter. I think that what happened at Florida, it was a good learning experience, and I don't think it goes against his character or his ability. I think he's going to turn Carolina back into a place that a lot of people want to talk about and a lot of people want to go to."

What is the word on Brunson? I know he is a commit and is a tackling machine, but how good is he?
Posted on 12/7/15 at 2:59 pm to UpstateCock2007
Had Brunson not been injured last year, he'd already be a commit. Jr withheld the offer until this season to see how he recoup'd from the injury. Then with all the coaching change stuff, his offer wasn't being considered. Now he has an offer, but he's committed to L'ville. If Boom wants him, Boom will get him.
Here are his Sr season highlighs

He has a nose for the ball, but not the best anticipation instincts. He's fast on the quick burst, good acceleration, and that makes up for his instincts. He wraps up when he tackles, he's not an idiot looking to spear everyone. He also goes for the ball with his non pivot hand when the guy is being tackled, he'll force some turnovers. He's decent in pass coverage.

Ah, cool. I thought that he committed for some reason. I know he had some big tackle games.

Boom just booked a flight for Wednesday to fly up and meet McIlwain and his family. McIlwain also scheduled a trip down here this weekend. Holy shite, Boom is doing work, this guy is full GO.

Feels weird having a head coach who actually recruits.
