Mystery recruit was on campus today, recruiting services were told not to release the name. Wonder who it could be?

I've heard speculation that it's a current clemsux commit. That made people believe it was Mike Williams. However, it could also be Earnest Robinson. We won't know unless someone spills the beans or the guy commits.

It would be funny if it was a clemsux recruit, but I would also like it to be one of Deke Adams guys from UNC, like Greg Webb.

Those beans came out fast. 247 Noles just broke the story. It's Tyrell Lyons, 4 Star OLB/Safety

ESPN Profile

He visited us for the Showcase last year, but then committed to FSU a few weeks later. He played for First Coast, which produces a ton of D1 talent over the years.

Hearing we may lead with Walton now on some of the pay sites, would be a nice finish if we can get him and Moore. Staff has essentially made it known that we are only taking 2 more this class in an effort to land as much in state talent as possible next year (there is a ton). Next year might be our best recruiting year ever.

Cool - Ward must be working him with the immediate playing time angle. Which would probably be true, considering how thin we are at LB.

I keep hearing about how much talent is coming out of SC next year... who all are we already in good with?

DE Da'Shawn Hand (5* per Rivals)
OL Donell Stanley (4*) - Latta
OL Bentley Spain (4*)
TE Kevin Crosby Jr. (4*) - Bamberg
WR Shaq Davidson (4*) - Gaffney
WR Terry Googer (4*)
RB Derrell Scott (4*)
LB Bryson Allen-Williams (4*)
QB Drew Barker (4*)
DT Dexter Wideman (4*) - Saluda
WR Blake Bone (4*) - Woodruff
WR Braxton Berrios (4*)
TE Kalan Ritchie (4*) - Goose Creek
DT Naquez Pringle
DE Anthony Moten

Just to name a few...all the above either have USC as the current leader or as one of their top 2, 3 or 5 schools. Pringle and Moten are not listed on Rivals 250 watch list, but are expected to contend for 4* status once they've attended some camps and combines this summer.

Still a lot of time to go with their recruiting periods, and we definitely won't get them all, but many (if not most of them) are currently visiting USC for their Junior Day weekend, and there's talk that a couple may even commit on their visit.

This doesn't include 2014 LB Joe Blue, who has already committed as our first member of the 2014 class...he's also a strong contender for 4* status, or high 3* at the worst.

I've read that we will have a smaller class from anywhere of 18-20 prospects for 2014, so it's a shame we won't be able to load up on such an outstanding recruiting season. We supposedly have 3 LOIs remaining from the 2013 class, and we have some stellar prospects that we are in great shape to bring in (Ngakoue, Walton, Bryant, Moore).

But if we miss out on them and have spare schollies from this class, it wouldn't be such a bad thing as they could carry over for the next class and give us a chance to pull in a higher rated talent than any we're still in the running for this cycle...

All told there are 8 SC prospects currently in Rivals' 250 watch list of 4* rated prospects. There's liable to be close to that many others who will earn a 4th star during their senior season....

If we can get hand on campus sooner than later, I think we will lead.

Not official yet, but 2013 LB Jonathan Walton tweeted this:

quote:

Jonathan Walton ?@Jwalton25

looks like ill be joining @MoCamara3 at our new home!!! #gamecocknation

@MoCamara3 is South Carolina 2013 LB commit Mohamed Camara...other online sites are now tweeting that it looks like Walton will be a Gamecock!

edit: I was a bit concerned after LB Reuban Foster bolted from AU to UA that AU may put the hard pressure sale on Walton.....they wanted him as a FB while he wants to play LB (what we've recruited him for), but I thought they may change their tune since like Foster, Walton is rated as an ILB....

Final 3 prospects we are in the hunt for are LB Jonathan Walton, LB Skai Moore, and DL Keith Bryant. We appear to be in strong position to land all three according to most online sources I've read.

Walton has indicated on twitter that he's already made his decision to come to USC, and it's been passed on as being a commitment, but I don't think it's official yet as none of the online sites have added his name to the class yet. We now have less than a day before NSD gears up tomorrow, so I'll just wait it out and see what happens on the fax machines....

National Signing Day for the 2013 recruiting class is here! All of USC's commitments that haven't already enrolled early into the institution (JUCO DB Ronnie Martin, QB Connor Mitch, and OL D.J. Park) have now signed and submitted their letters of intent! 4* LB Skai Moore, a top prospect we were remaining with and a leader for, announces his commitment today to USC and has also submitted his LOI.

The class is now done and all accounted for....there is still one remaining prospect to decide: 4* DL Keith Bryant. It's between FSU, USC, and possibly Miami for the FL prospect.

IMO, Bryant is the perfect example of "icing on the cake", meaning that while a great prospect, if he chooses elsewhere it wouldn't be a huge loss for USC, as we're good right now for the DL position with Griffin. Plus, the 2014 class is expected to be one of the most talent-rich, and USC will have a small class for that cycle, so any scholarships that we can carry over to next year will help us in that regard....

Kieth Bryant signs with FSU. Thus ends the recruitment cycle for 2013: we are done!

Would've liked Bryant, but I'm really happy we got Moore! Another solid recruiting class. We also got the positions of need (LB, RB, DB, DE), and we had a fantastic OL class.

I feel really good about years to come. I still think that the '14 class might be the best we've ever signed though. Tons of in state talent and we lead for most of it.
