I can't support this at all.
Both bands have staged before have for who knows how long and this is the only solution we can come up with (assuming there's some legitimate concern)?
First, piped-in music, now we ground rule out visitors' bands. Soon we'll sit TGBFTL.

Yeah, uh, no. Football team will prevent that.
It hasn't prevented it in quite a while.
Maybe LSU should look into banning Alabama from bringing their starters. Is that what it will take to prevent L6U?

I have seen every SEC band. None of them are worthy of attention. The A&M band is now the pride of the SEC for half time shows and they are full of themselves. Straight lines are really not impressive to people not associated with A&M or WWII. The half time shows by opposing teams are only for opposing fans. In truth, the bands exist to play the fight and traditional songs of the fan base. Aggies will have the hardest time accepting this because before sumlin's first year the band was the best product they could put on the field since the 1990's.
For the record, LSU's band has been terrible for 20+ years. I am not picking sides. The tradition and collegiate experience comes from what is played from the stands, not from a halftime show.

Seems like more ticket opportunities for visiting team. Get rid of all band for all I care. They get prime seats and take up 100+

Hey, thank you for your dedication to LSU through the band or congratulations for being one of the last remaining members if the earth wind and fire fan club. As for your love of Latin classics, I hear you can freely travel to Cuba, rent a vehicle manufactured in the 50's and find a Latin music hot spot at your leisure. Don't act as if the LSU band is special just because they put on a uniform and perform a few basic routines 7 times a year. It's tradition, it's great, it takes some practice in insane heat to do the pre game and traditional songs. Outside of that, it has been a really long time since an LSU band has impressed anyone not wearing P&G. It's the fight songs and other traditional music that defines the band.

The frick are you talking about? Even the people shite-talking LSU in this thread acknowledge our marching band is legit.

I respect the LSU fans who acknowledge the "safety" excuse to be BS
It's too bad for their fans that the LSU AD is so petty. Sets a bad example.
No one wins when piped in music and 90s flameout bands are halftime entertainment

In 1997 LSU's band was voted #1 by the SEC band directors. LSU received 11 first place votes. You couldn't vote for your own band. For the record Frank Wickes voted for Alabama.
In 2002 LSU's band received the Sudler trophy which is given to the top marching band. Yes i will admit the trophy is quite BS since a band can only win it once but that is a national recognition of excellence.
Those two things along throw a wrench in your 20+ years of garbage notion. Along with no one outside of P&G wearers being impressed.
At least get your timeline right if you want to criticize something.

This is clearly a subject you're very passionate about.
I can promise you very few LSU fans give a crap whether or not the band plays on the road.

Pregame, the end of half time and the songs in the stands are great. I'd argue it's not talent or direction that makes that great. Anywhere they get freedom is not entertaining, not memorable, and not dependent of the uniform. If some other band was out there doing the same thing you would not care about the product as much. I love LSU and the band but let's not act as if they are more than the pre scripted tradition we enjoy.

9 pages of whiney little bitches..
Guess what? Our stadium. Our rules. Deal with it nerds. the 90k or so LSU fans don't want to hear your sub-par band perform anyways

I stand corrected. The fact that you even know that probably makes you biased. At a minimum you follow marching bands more than most. Perhaps I am the outlier about the love of LSU halftime shows, however, I don't know anyone willing to speak up for halftime not affiliated with the band.
