Here's the problem. No talent in the state and in a part of the country very few want to be. It's less about what Nebraska has done in the past 20 years, but they're potential for the next 20. There is just not much there.
Just look at the top recruits out of the state of Nebraska over the past couple years and how many played signed at D1 schools. It doesn't look promising

I get that. Alabama will always have an easier time in football than say A&M. I am not dumb.
Yet you won't admit the opposite- that some things DO change. Realignment, national demographic shifts, and uber rich alums can change the projectory of programs for forever. Thanks to Realignment no elite Texas recruit will ever pick Nebraska over A&M again. When I was in school that was a fact of life. Things can change for the better or for the worse.

The trend at Nebraska will be hard to reverse. Hiring Riley was symbolic of their current mediocrity. That is not the coach you hire to beat Urban Meyer or Harbaugh.

Series record between those two coaches is tied at 2. Next time have a clue what you are talking about.

Harbaugh built that team at Stanford from the ground. Riley had his recruits the entire four years. Harbaugh would've owned that series like Shaw had he stayed longer.

Context is king. Stanford was shite when Harbaugh arrived. They were at the bottom of the PAC - 12. Riley was at his pinnacle. You are a clueless poster.
Harbaugh started with a far worse team and left his team far better.

So you'll have no problem comparing any of the other Big 10 coaches to Riley his first few years at Nebraska even though he hasn't got his guys in there?

Riley was not a splash hire. He was at the point USC and Bama tried to get him when he almost won that PAC. He was seriously trending down when you snagged him. If I remember correctly, he was bowl eligible once in the last three years. Stock was sell.
Stanford can out recruit Oregon State but Harbaugh's success wasn't based on his recruiting. He really didn't have that advantage until 2010.
I personally hope for the best with Riley. He is a good guy. But he needed a revival.

You should ask how USCw felt about losing to Riley and destroying their seasons when they were ranked at the top of the nation.
