Interesting. A question in which the OP's school would not be correct answer under any circumstances.

And yet the original goal was accomplished. There are always ulterior motives. Usually it's trolling, rarely it's actual discussion.

Mizzou is undoubtedly the more successful program. It just depends how much weight you put on fan support and who is willing to pay more money.

Location as well. UT is located within few hours of lots of recruiting grounds in all directions and near several powerhouse schools. The right coach could do a lot here.

Mizzou I'm less familiar so I can't really speak for y'all.

It's pretty brutal in Missouri because there isn't an airport and the trains are always delayed.

He literally just disappeared into Arkansas without any "goodbye" or press conference. Classless way to leave.

It's actually worse than that. He quit coaching, in an almost tangible fashion, and his team quit on him when it became apparent Pelphrey was on his way out. And thus, Anderson's last year as our coach was disappointing from a basketball standpoint and a recruiting standpoint. He did not have a single recruit that year.

He stole a paycheck for the better part of a year.

True.

I remember waiting at the train station in St. Louis for my ride back to Joplin to catch the Greyhound back to Fayetteville.

It happens to everyone.

Houston Nutt was paid millions from us to coach at Ole Miss.

Poors

ETA: I take that back, it was probably before XNA had airline service. Was the Greyhound really the best option though?

Did you check your seat for syringes before you sat down?

No airport? Do they have any plans to build one? The way recruiting and even playing/scheduling has become so much more national than local that's gotta hurt.

The basketball coaching market doesn't support your argument.

Michigan, Syracuse, Pitt, Oregon, Georgetown, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Villanova, Wisconsin, UConn

All of those programs pay less than 2.4 million per year to their coaches. All of which have been at their job at least two years.

And how many have been to a Final Four in the past decade? Except for Uconn, none on your list is a top basketball school.

Connecticut = 1999, 2004, 2009, 2011, 2014
Arkansas = 1941, 1945, 1978, 1990, 1994, 1995
Syracuse = 1975, 1987, 1996, 2003, 2013
Michigan = 1964, 1965, 1976, 1989, 2013
Georgetown = 1943, 1982, 1984, 1985, 2007
Oklahoma State = 1945, 1946, 1949, 1951, 1995, 2004
Oklahoma = 1939, 1947, 1988, 2002
Wisconsin = 1941, 2000, 2014
Villanova = 1939, 1985, 2009
Pittsburgh = 1941
Oregon = 1939

(vacated wins = Villanova 1971, Michigan 1992 and 1993)

Seriously?

I mean, if you put an all time list together of top 15-20 programs together....all those schools, minus Oregon are in it.

UT definitely has great recruiting grounds, especially Memphis. Missouri has Kansas City and St. Louis. The problem is they Mizzou has trouble recruiting St. Louis for some reason. If a coach felt he could break into St. Louis, Mizzou is a good place to recruit.

Kansas City:
Marcus Denmon
Kareem Rush
Alec Burks
Brandon Rush
Michael Dixon

St. Louis:
Bradley Beal
Ben McLemore
Josh Harrellson
David Lee

Other:
Tyler Hansbrough
Ben Hansbrough
Otto Porter
Tyronn Lue

Location as well.

Indiana and Kentucky have the high school pipelines and Ohio and Tennessee are the next circle out. being near Chicago and east coast corridor helps as well. At the high school level is your state a football state or a basketball state (or hockey / baseball where applicable)

For sure! I decided just to include more recent guys since they probably wouldn't recognize some of the older guys

Also, if you wanna include the older guys, don't forget Steve Stipanovich!!

Eastern TN and the western NC area is the prettiest places east of the Mississippi. So, I vote UT.
