Sorry but Tennessee is on a whole nother plane of existence for several reasons - some quantifiable, some that just can't be quantified at all. Prick-a-yama still can't touch Summitt's winning percentage, innovation, or the fact that she's responsible for women's basketball become a legit and competitive sport.
Geno's good but UCONN would be nothing without UT and Pat Summitt. And Geno would be nothing without ESPN and the NCAA turning a blind eye. Maya Moore's mom suddenly got a house in CT and she's just one example.
They aren't and never will be in the same league.

Geno has a better win pct than Summit now. As well as more national titles, more undefeated seasons.
UConn is the premier women's program.
They're the program on an entirely different level.

your metaphysical preference for Tennessee is really just an affection for your home program

Geno's lifetime winning percentage: .868
Pat's lifetime winning percentage: .841
Pat Summit is a giant in the history of women's basketball and responsible for more interest in the game but Title 9 did more and Geno has done more over the last 20 years.

Isn't this what every rival says about the team they don't like? Whether that's Alabama/Auburn/tOSU/USC football or KY/UCLA/NC/Kansas basketball?
I'll agree that the rules are just different if you are SMU up against A&M and Texas cheating similarly - but Tennessee is not SMU and they get the same type of pass when it comes to examining how the sausage of college sports is made.

I cannot believe people care enough about women's basketball to argue about it.

ESPN is ruining W college basketball
Skylar Diggins worked for ESPN when she played for Notre Dame yet it was never disclosed in any broadcast. I only found out by accident when I was talking to some ESPN folks when I was in a hotel room where they were staying.
ESPN took Maya Moore to Bristol and used their facilities to recruit Maya Moore to attend Uconn
Crap like that is what is keeping recruiting concentrated of the schools ESPN favors. Greenwell was headed to UK and never even had Duke on her list. Suddenly she has Duke and about the same time she writes a blog for ESPN for Duke covering the past season. Sit next to the ESPN folks at games and you would be amazed what you hear that never makes it on the air.

Sad part is wasting time on that instead of discussing how to fix the 3 programs in question (Arkansas, Missouri, and Tennessee)
Viewed another way, only 3 NBA coaches make more that Cal / Pitino. Most are in the 2 million range and NBA job security is pretty slim. Smart move would be for Slive to prompt these three schools to budget 3 million - 4 million a year if they are serious about basketball and just poach the best from the NCAA and NBA so you change the dynamics of the SEC as a whole when they view M basketball. At least SEC women dominate salaries across the country and look how competitive the SEC women are.
For UT, all that's needed is for the AD to finally cough up some serious coin for a basketball coach/recruiter and they have no excuse not to given the profit which fans now know about. In the SEC, we're behind only UK in terms of value (Forbes top 15), have top facilities nationally and are in the top attendance nationally on a regular basis. In some ways, I wonder if our loyalty to the team doesn't hurt us. The AD can operate one of the most valuable teams in basketball even when the product is subpar because we keep showing up and even when attendance drops it's not enough for the AD to feel it.
I *really* hope AD Hart's pride is on the line. He played college basketball under Bama's C.M. Newton. Newton also headed up USA Basketball and was responsible for the Dream Team. When Newton was at UK he hired Pitino. I *hope* Newton's not just Hart's former coach but his role-model for how to run and operate a basketball program.
UT has the money and all you need to create a monster program. The question is whether or not Hart has the will. Dickey only cared about football and Hamilton could fundraise but otherwise oversaw running UT into the ground both from a management perspective and hiring perspective.
Mizzou I'm not sure what they need or if they need anything. I'd like to hear thoughts on that.

Arky has neither a women's or men's team that anyone cares about. So irrelevant is Arky that y'all have to use a thread about relevant basketball teams to even get your name out. Even so you have to be the ones to interject Arky into the discussion as certainly neither Mizzou nor UT nor fans of other schools care enough to bring Arky into the picture on their own.
Poor Arky.

I think we need a good basketball coach. Not a good recruiter. A good coach. As Fuller showed, you can pay for a top notch recruiter to sit next to the coach. We need an Xs and Os guy. We have the money to spend. We have decent facilities. We have a good recruiting base locally. We just need the coach.
And then we need a little luck.

Stability is what Mizzou needs, most, too many guys just passing thru lately.

Agreed.... Oklahoma State has an underrated BB history.

Presidents, Hall of Fame Coaches, NFL Franchise owners, and millions of true college basketball fans disagree with you. Arkansas changed college basketball. You tricks would still be wearing speedos if us and Michigan hadn't started the baggy shorts era. We revolutionized the style of play and the wardrobe of college basketball. Many basketball purists want Arkansas to be good at basketball ...A good Arkansas is good for college hoops.

By your logic I would compare them to UCLA under Wooden. Both are tainted due to undue influence. UCLA had Papa Sam and Uconn has ESPN. Wooden was winning in the 60 - 70 percent range for the decade or so before Papa Sam and was in the 90 percent range after Papa Sam got involved with the Bruins.

I was around with the triplets and Sutton. I was around to watch Nolan run uptempo game that was exciting to watch. It would be good for the college game to bring back the colorful coaches that drew crowds with their flair and style of play.

The only reason we are talking about the vols is because you're a steeping stone basketball job...remember? I guess in your eyes this makes you relevant.
