Mine is more a desire to see the Hogs back in their former winning ways. Open the checkbook and hire like a school wanting to be known for basketball.
We did, at $2.2 million
Anderson his the 3rd highest paid coach in the league and a top 17 paid coach nationally.
He is also getting a new state of the art practice facility which is part of $350million in facility upgrades.

I've got a feeling the money's going to begin flowing in college basketball.
I have no reason to think that's the case other than the additional athletics revenue coming in and the fact that universities are pseudo-governmental beings that need to spend every dollar they get plus some.
At least somebody on here gets the big picture
Look at Louisville as the poster child of beating your enemy by hiring their former coach. Jurich appealed to Pitino in the language of money and they have moved from CUSA to the Big East to the ACC. He opened the wallet and pushed UL up the ladder.

All of those coaches have been at their school at least 4-5 years.
And all have multiple Final 4s on their resume.
Ben Howland is the only candidate out there that can claim that and he'd be a lot cheaper than $3M. He's unemployed. Plus he has baggage.

Donovan was making $1.7M in 2006. Not 1996.
That is still before the Cal / Pitino salary war began
Look at Alabama football picking off Saban from LSU. Tide was not looking to go cheap and wait 5 years for Saban to "develop" they put down the dollars and went for the jugular.

The basketball coaching market doesn't support your argument.
Michigan, Syracuse, Pitt, Oregon, Georgetown, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Villanova, Wisconsin, UConn
All of those programs pay less than 2.4 million per year to their coaches. All of which have been at their job at least two years.

Wait a minute, we've been to more Sweet Sixteens? Wow. The way everyone claims y'all are better than us, I'm surprised. Interesting (and no I'm not trolling I honestly believed the hype).
Always trying to spin and twist facts...Anderson has been to that many plus an Elite 8...Not Arkansas...You already know better than that though.

You're off your rocker
Saban was looking to get out of Miami. He wasn't going back to LSU. Alabama hiring Saban has nothing to do with LSU or going for the jugular.
Panda Saban makes what he does because of the titles he has won while at Alabama. He certainly didn't get hire for $5mil per year.

Uh no I don't follow Arky basketball. Sorry.

Mizzou is undoubtedly the more successful program. It just depends how much weight you put on fan support and who is willing to pay more money.

And I also know Missouri fans put on a front of hating on Mike, but what he did at UAB and the. What he did to clean up Snyders mess at Mizzou and get them to 30 wins and the. Have them set up to win 30 games again, shows he is a winner and knows how to build a program.
I'll agree with this statement. I'm not mad at Mike leaving, he went to his home. Arky is what it is. It's one of the few programs he would have left for. We knew that coming in.
The dislike from Mizzou fans really comes from the style of play and the actual execution for the time he was here. Couple that with the big talk about him retiring at Mizzou, and it pisses people off.
I seriously believe he could have won us an NC, said he would retire at Mizzou, gone home to Arkansas and we'd have still been pissed. We thought he was our dude. Some of us didn't like that style, but he was building something. Saying you'll stay and then bailing is a bitch of a move, and that's where the dislike comes from.
He should have never said he was Mizzou all the way, because we're Mizzou all the way and we've been through a lot of shite as Mizzou fans. It's a badge of honor he just discarded. That makes people mad. It's understandable, hopefully by everyone.
ETA: Holy shite, did I just go on a drunken diatribe on a post from a few pages ago? frick me.

No. The dislike from Mizzou fans come from the WAY he left Mizzou. I had no problem with him going to Arky. Not many people did. It's the fact that every offseason he seemed to be seeking another job, and then when he finally left for Arky, he left out the backdoor and didn't even have the courtesy to address his team or the local media about it. He literally just disappeared into Arkansas without any "goodbye" or press conference. Classless way to leave.

I understand.
I also remember back that Arkansas looked in good hands with Pelphrey. NCAA appearance with a win over Indiana. Started the next season ranked in the top 25 after wins over #2 Oklahoma and top 10 Texas.
We had not had AD Jeff Long but for a year and Nolan still had not come back to campus.
Fast forward two years and our athletic department had minded with Richardson and finally recognized his accomplishments at a game to celebrate their title. Pelphrey starts kicking players off the team, getting hammered by NCAA APR issues and he is fired and Mike is hired.
Not to jump to mikes defense! but I'm sure he honestly thought Frank Broyles would never leave and he was not going to work for him.

Think the Learjet is coming back from Tulsa with Haith tonight?
I think that's the way it's done now.

I understand your frustration.....but I cannot remember a coach ever having a departing news conference.
It's the nature of the beast.

Interesting. A question in which the OP's school would not be correct answer under any circumstances.

Personally, there was no frustration. I was calling for him to be fired before he left, so I was ecstatic when Anderson hit the road. My problem was not addressing his players and telling them what was happening. He literally just disappeared from Columbia. That was it. The end. Make no mistake..I'm not upset whatsoever that he left...I'm upset that he didn't handle it better.
