Don't both project as Guards?

Yes, we're only taking 1 more Guard according to 247, so I would think it's Bailey since we've been his leader for awhile and I think the coaches have him higher on their board. Although, Bailey can also play Tackle, but I think we're holding out hope for Burrell or Pellage for that last OT spot.

JUCO DT D.J. Jones committed to FSU today while visiting them this weekend with his parents. Was a bit of a surprise...don't know on the chances of USC still swaying him to flip afterwards, but not good missing out on what was our highest rated if not only DT target for this class....

I thought UT was his leader.

Oh well. We flipped Wideman last year from FSU. It'd be funny if we flipped Jones. I wish we could get in better shape with Huggins. I'd rather have him

I keep hearing about how Jones wants to play 1 year of college ball, then enter the NFL draft as soon as they let him apply. If that's so, then USC would be a bad fit for him. He may be looking for the best program with a balance of national prestige (TV market attention) plus thin depth at DT that would allow him to wade through the depth and get lots of playing time...

That's what JUCOs are typically used for anyways: fillers for immediate needs of depth at positions. At USC, such a scenario may not be existent - or at least FSU coaches have sold to him that it isn't.

USC should be secure in terms of depth for 2014, with 7 DTs expected to compete for the 4 2-deep spots on the depth chart. Stallworth should be expected to be red-shirted, but only Surratt is the senior and expected to leave. For 2015, Jones will have SIX (6) returning DTs to contend with, with all of them having time in the program to develop.

Then USC will be expected to bring in Dexter Wideman, who was once committed to FSU, and who the FSU coaches probably sold to Jones will be a DT by the time he gets to USC. Then whoelse they bring in at DT in the '15 class (even tho Jones was projected to be our only DT target)...

We could work our way back into things with Jones, especially if he still visits us, but from reports I've been reading, we weren't exactly #2 on Jones' list anyways....

This could get interesting. 247 guys think we're only going to take one of Sandifer or Bailey and that the coaches prize Bailey slightly more. So if he does want to announce this weekend I'm not sure he's an immediate take. I hope they convey that to him this weekend and don't let him put us in a position to turn down his commitment.

I think he's a good player but his stock has dropped recently (cuz he's very big & oughta shape).. from what I gather, he's a pretty smart kid and it would surprise me if he did not confirm the offer before he set the date to go down there Saturday

No doubt. It's just one of the things I hate about recruiting when a school has to turn down a kids commitment. It must be a horrible feeling on both sides.

That is a surprise. The SC 247 Insider just CB'd Sandifer to SC, and a few other guys predicted the same in the past few days. I guess we're thinking he and Bailey, and then Burrell or Pellage are takes if they try to commit as well.

That's a lot of talent for a few more spots. Praying Johnny Frasier jumps on board, the kid is a freak.

I just updated it with a few more names. I doubt everybody comes, there's always a transportation issue or something like this. We're getting really tight on #'s soon, but we have some great recruits coming in.

If Patrick goes to fsu, I think we might have a good shot. The noles got 5* RB Dalvin Cook last year and the #1 APB Ryan Green the year before. They would be loaded at RB.
