2015 South Carolina Football Recruiting Thread

OK, I really didn't think we should start up a thread for the 2015 recruiting class as it's so far away, but with all of the activity going on with that cycle, and with the 2014 class being so small and it's 2/3rds done anyways, that the 2014 recruiting thread is getting populated with a bunch of discussion for the '15 cycle.
We really need a specific thread to discuss those goings on without running the 2014 thread off the tracks, so here is the 2015 recruiting thread for future discussion. Thus far the '15 class is starting out in totally unprecedented fashion for USC, with several elite prospects already committed.
Commitments to this cycle's class(site star ratings=Rivals/24-7/ESPN/Scout):

Recruit Update for this class: WR Jerad Washington has reportedly committed to USC, although it's still being confirmed. Washington (5-9, 170) is in the mold of Ace Sanders: he played his Fr. season at First Coast, then his family moved to Maryland for one year, then moved back to Jacksonville, and he's back at First Coast. He's currently un-rated by all sites probably because of all the moving from state to state. Jerad would be the 5th commitment for the 2015 class...
Also highly rated OLB Sherrod Pittman is scheduled to announce his commitment tomorrow at 6:30pm. Pittman attended UF's Friday Night Lights camp this weekend, and he's reportedly down to UF and USC. Several "insiders" are saying that USC is the slight lead. Pittman attended a camp at USC last month. So stay tuned for more news...

Sherrod Pittman, #9 OLB, is deciding tonight, will be televised by his local station.
He plays at First Coast (where Shaq Wilson is from), and his current teammate is Jerad Washington who just committed to us yesterday. UF has been the favorite for him for a while though, and he went to FNLgainesville last Friday.
We'll see what happens.

I have heard rumors that he does not have a committable offer from UF. Good news for us maybe?

2015 is shaping up to be a beastly class.

Should be the best we've ever had. Hopefully it won't have the busts that the 07 class had

We've never started this hot, this early. I have no idea how good this could be, but I gotta imagine it will be about as good as it gets.

Take it for what it's worth, but we have the #1 class in the SEC right now for 2015, but know that could change tomorrow.

Would love to see us add Albert Huggins to this class when the time comes. I'm hoping we have the kind of season this year that makes it impossible for him to ignore.
Who are the other big time targets for this class?

I'll try to only list guys we appear to have at least a decent shot at for this point in time and their 247 composite position ranking. Conway or BigCockFan could probably make a really good list though.

Albert Huggins #7 DT
Minkah Fitzpatrick #2 CB
Garrett Taylor #12 CB
Steven Gonzalez #4 OG
Ryan Bates #13 OT
Tarvarus McFadden #9 S
Zach Bailey #19 OT
Octavis Johnson #21 ATH
Mark Fields #30 CB
Clelin Ferrell #3 WDE (we already have 3 DE's though.)
Johnathan Sutton #4 OLB
Mason Veal #23 OT (Legacy)
Noah Green #37 OT
Michael Bowman #17 WR (Havelock, NC, Cooper and Scott's teammate)
Bryce Love #14 ATH (Legacy)

I do not know. I don't believe so though, b/c I bet we would've heard about that by now and how we were trying to use that as a recruiting advantage.

We have 3 really great DE's already committed for 2015, if we end up taking a 4th, it just might be this guy. He's a beast and still has 2 seasons in HS, so he may develop into a SDE. A rabbit package with Key, Blackshear, Ferrell and Rivers would be nasty if these guys put on 30+ lbs of good weight.
USC, Clemson have offered Ferrell
By Eric Guimaraes
Rising junior DE Clelin Ferrell (6-5 220) of Richmond visited USC this summer and is showing a lot of interest in the Gamecocks. Ferrell has an offer from USC and met with assistant Deke Adams while on campus. "Iwent down there with my teammate (WR)Scott Bracey who has an offer from them too," Ferrell said. "Coach Adams showed us around campus. I like the academic center and their commitment to academics." The success of former defensive ends at USC is another reason Ferrell is interested in the Gamecocks. "South Carolina is telling me what most schools are telling me-they like the way I play and want me to come there-stuff like that," he said. "But they're different because they're telling me how they can develop me at defensive end and it's basically Defensive End U(niveristy). They're also my first SEC offer so that means a lot to me." Clemson, Florida State, Penn State, Iowa, Charlotte, Virginia, Virginia Tech and James Madison have also offered. Though he has not visited Clemson to date, Ferrell expressed interest in the Tigers. "They're a really good school with a good foundation and really strong in the ACC," Ferrell said. "I don't know as much about them but I know Da'Quan Bowers played there so they've had good players play defensive end too." Ferrell would like to attend games at USC and Clemson this fall as well as Virginia, Virginia Tech and James Madison. As a sophomore he he totaled nine and a half sacks, 26 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. Ferrell does not have any favorites.

Updated the Rivals rankings for the commitments, which were unranked the last time I checked. Rivals now has Blackshear as a 5*, and the other four all as 4* prospects. Neal and Pittman are both 5.9 4*, while Key and Rivers are both 5.8 4*s...
