... just got a text. Parents sporting a lot of new stuff for signing. It's LSU. They got a new car, new clothes, even new swag.

Still five+ minutes away. He's not taken the stage yet. Twitter momma is tweeting about her little boy ... everyone there is saying "LSU."

ETA: My buddy, who moved from Charleston to Redan to be closer to his grandkids, says, from where he is sitting right now this night reminds him of Moe Thompson and his mother the night he flipped from UNC to USC. He said he's about to get-up and walk-out it's so obvious. It's alllllll LSU.

ETA II: His header picture just changed on twitter to him as a baby in LSU colors.

ETA III ... but Ward is a "father figure" to him.

ETA IV ... friend just texted, said clearly Key's sister and Wesley Green have a "thing going on" by the way they are acting in front of everyone fwiw. Tongue slobber being swapped. Might be good for us ... and bad for us.

Several thoughts here:

1. Ward must have never been like a father figure to him cause who gonna do a Dad like that? It's like Ward was the step-dad who raised him, talked to him, helped him for years, but then Arden turned 18 and said, "you ain't blood, I'm gone."

2. Several players and recruits are members of a Gamecock group on facebook. 2 weeks ago after the LSU visit, Key left that group. The admins on the site said that he left b/c he was a silent commit to lsu. I didn't know what to make of it, but they were exactly right. I think social media is going to take the place of the pay sites rather quickly.

g'luck to him, I still won't be surprised if he sends in an LOI to us tomorrow or delays this even further. That whole thing where he drew names out of a hat is complete bullshite though, it's hard to think that a recruit would make a decision so big based on that.

Not to beat a dead horse but I thought it was kind of odd that, for six months, he talked about Ward and how great Ward was. But last night he gave the shout-out to Deke Adams.

There has to be more to the story but who knows. It's spilled milk now. Key is in the past.

We're still going to finish-up fine.

Saw a tweet tonight. SC is 5-2 over Clemson the past seven years, yet Clemson is 5-2 in ranked recruiting classes during that same frame of time.

Clemson has had higher ranked classes eight of the past ten years including this year.

Has anyone heard anything on whether we'll go after Matt Colburn out of Dutch Fork as a last minute addition?? He's the kid that Petrino just royally fricked over by basically dumping him from Louisville.

All in all, I think we got ourselves a pretty good class here. Definitely getting some immediate help on the D line which lord knows we need. We will just have to see where this new Hoke business might shake things up at all.

Good group of kids, GamecocksOnline has a great little site to get a bunch of info.

He's not coming to SC on scholarship, but I don't know where he's going.

Right on our day was done before noon, with all the LOI's in. This was a class that's on par with what we've got the past 6 years. Low ranked in the SEC, but highly ranked nationally.

We did a great job addressing the DL. We should have an excellent DL next year.

Pittman was vastly underrated, he's a Top5 OLB in my eyes. He got hurt like Blackshear and they tanked his rating.

Jalen Christian is going to be awesome and I like the height we have coming in with Dexter and Owens. Hopefully for us, Dexter doesn't get drafted this year in the MLB, I know scouts are seriously considering him.

We're bringing in a big OL group, if Helms can play right away this year, things will be great, he'll be able to hold his own at LG or C. He was a Fr All American and All ACC.

Also, I think AJ Turner may have been the most underrated prospect we got. AJ was invited to The Opening, but couldn't do much with the wrist injury, the same one that held him out most of his Sr year. However, when he came back for the playoffs, he was a TD machine for Centerville and a ball hawk on defense. I'm expecting Pharoh Cooper type things from him. This kids just makes guys miss and he's fast. He's not as fast as Nyheim Hines, but he's really fast and quick.

Well, FWIW, I was thinking that are probably a half dozen key players in this class that might really make a difference. Hard-working leader types with serious talent.

There are probably more - but this class just seems very solid and it fills a lot of needs.

Great class this year, Cocks. Really closed strong. Interested to see how your DL commits produce. I know our coaches thought highly of a couple of them.

He is appealing the NCAA to waive the sit-down year, as he has an ill grandparent that he's moving home to be closer to and help out with. Don't know if it will be approved, but it's been submitted....
