Check this guy out.

3* RB, Mon Denson, LeGrange, GA.
https://247sports.com/Player/Mon-Denson-37989

He camped here in June, but we haven't offered. He's coming back for Black Magic.

Here are his Jr year highlights.
https://www.hudl.com/athlete/1138862/highlights/90423379

Based on the highlights, I would like to see more film on him, he makes A LOT of plays. He's fast for his size, faster than Ty'son, Cronkite, and B Shaw and he's bigger than them too. I was wondering if he runs track, b/c he has those long strides. That's not the best part though, what makes him really good is his acceleration.

He's not NyHeim Hines quick, but he's still very quick on those first 10 yards. Also, he makes moves/jukes at diagonal angles rather than lateral cuts to keep his speed up. Some defenders are able to get a hand on him as a result, but he's big, so he breaks that initial contact frequently.

From his highlights, he also has good hands. His team loved to run screens and toss sweeps. I wanted to see more film on him, b/c I was curious if he caught those all the time or did he drop some of them?

He has good vision, he is definitely a north/south guy. It appears like he'd much rather get that 8 yard carry up the gut, rather than try to bounce outside toward the sideline and run 30 yards trying to pickup 8.

I also liked how when shite went bad, he was there to still make a play. Another guy fumbled, he scooped it w/o hesitation and ran for a lot of yards. Some guys missed their blocks, he lowered his shoulder and picked up what he could. He got a horrible pass, he adjusted his body in the air to make the catch.

Furthermore, he plays with swagger and a lot of confidence. He plays defense as well, Safety, and he put out some really good hits. Playing both ways isn't easy, so I bet his conditioning is really good.

We'll see if SC offers.

Auden Tate, who is a 3* WR, but made The Opening Dream Team for TE is in Columbia now. He wasn't scheduled to be a part of Black Magic, but he's in Columbia visiting family now. We'll see if he swings by the camp or not.

Could Gamecocks land No. 2 JUCO player in the nation this weekend? Possibly

quote:

Marquavius Lewis has already taken official visits to Arizona State and Miami this summer, and this weekend he plans to be in his home state–taking his official to South Carolina.

For the record, junior college players can take official visits in the summer if they choose. Lewis is the No. 2 junior college prospect in the nation, playing for Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. He is ranked second in the nation only to Auburn RB commitment Jovon Robinson.

Lewis, who is a 6-foot-4, 270-pound defensive end originally out of Greenwood (S.C.), seems like the perfect fit for the Gamecocks. Greenwood is only about an hour outside of Columbia, and of course has a mighty reputation producing big-time defensive line talent. Lewis plans to enroll early at the school he chooses.

“I’m really looking forward to the South Carolina visit,” Lewis said Thursday night. “I want to check it out to week what they have to offer and hear more about how they want to use me. They are blowing me up. They keep in touch. It’s a real big lead.”

Mon Denson gets a scholarship offer, wonder what happened with Frazier and Williams

quote:

Two of USC's top running back targets, Ty'son Williams of Crestwood and Johnny Frasier of Princeton, NC did not make it to the Gamecock Showcase Camp Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium. But a third, Mon Denson (5-11 214) of LaGrange, GA, did make it in and he was handed a scholarship offer after working out for the coaches.

Williams reportedly had a family emergency. Hope everything went well with that.

Frazier's attendance at the camp was never a sure thing, and was only confirmed - reportedly - at the last minute. He never made it, and no reports yet have given a reason why....

Some possible good news is that JUCO LB Davon Durant has posted this picture on his instagram account:

And the responses to it are mostly congratulations to him. I haven't seen anything reported that he has committed, but it's looking sorta like that. We'll see....

Sweet.

Bunch of crystal balls rolling in for Mon Denson to USC as well.

Crazy we've already got 24 commits.

Are both Durant and Lewis going to be here in December?

Finally got access. Just wanted to give you guys some information on Mon Denson. I went to LaGrange high and actually played three years with Mon. I actually spoke to him shortly after you guys offered him and he said you guys are his leader already, he really loved USC and everything about it. As far as playing abilities, I truly believe this kid has All-American potential. He is a stud on the track and actually did quite well at state last year. He bounces off just about every first couple tacklers that come on him. He really reminds me Melvin Gordon for Wisconsin with a little more speed. The only way to really describe him as far as safety is concerned is that he is a head hunter. He takes joy in hitting guys. But the main thing about Mon that separates him from the rest is that he is a true leader. When he was a freshman we had some other D1 guys on the team but he was automatically the leader on the team both vocally and out on the field. He will always have his teammates backs, for example we actually got into a brawl this season and Mon pretty much drug one kid on Thompson up and down the field. But you guys will definitely get a stud if you pull it off, just watch out if UGA offers. He's a huge fan. Hope you guys appreciate the information and Go Dawgs.
