Green, Lammons, and Smalls all have to retake the Standardized Test.

Green and Lammons were asked to take the ACT again, b/c their score was so high that the NCAA Clearinghouse flagged it. So an NCAA proctor is going to watch them take it today, and they'll know the results in 2 weeks. They don't have to get the same exact score again, just something close to that.

Hopefully they can deliver.
How can the NCAA flag a test score for being too high, yet Derrick Rose can get someone else to take the test for him and nobody notices?

They've been doing it since the 80's. They're trying to stop people from using the Bill Belicheck Method.
This link will explain.
Review of the Bill Beeeelicheck Method.

Update on qualifiers.
Joe Blue passed the NCAA Clearinghouse, he's awaiting final word from SC Admissions, but he should be good too go.
Lammons and Green retook that ACT on Friday, both feel positive about it and feel like they'll make it in. We'll find out in a couple weeks about their score/NCAA Clearinghouse status. Then SC Admissions has to accept them as well. If both score around what they scored on the test that got flagged, I wouldn't believe SC Admissions would be a problem, b/c their scores were flagged for being high.
I found out Smalls is in a slightly different situation. He's not waiting on the Clearinghouse, he's waiting on his last test score number to come back from the testing service.
Wideman did much better academically in the spring, but he wasn't able to catch up enough ground b/w the grades and the test, so he has to go to a semester of Prep. He should be here in January as an EE. (So basically it's like a RS for him, but IMO he would've played on the 2 Deep this year.)
So the non-qualifiers from this class were;
Sawyer (JUCO, went to JUCO early so he could be here by Summer I of '15.)
Thomas (JUCO DE not coming to SC anymore, )
Richie (going to GMC, didn't know if he was going to play TE or DE for us, so it's good he'll get a little time to develop and playing time somewhere.)
Wideman (going to Prep, probably Fork Union, should be here in January as an EE.)

I'm assuming that one of those Smalls - the first one - was actually meant to be Green?

So final tally at DE, a huge position of need, is 1 total on campus (Blake McClain), and he's out for the upcoming season w/ an injury.
Unbelievable.
Unbelievable.

I haven't read that he's out for the season. He's not working out in full with his teammates now, but we'll see what happens in fall camp. If he misses fall camp, he'll probably RS.

After looking at the latest depth chart released today, I'm really not as concerned about the DL. This depth chart doesn't include the incoming class, and Gerald Turner didn't even make the 3-deep as DE (they have him as the 3rd FB). We really need the CB freshmen more than the DE freshmen, and I expect at least 4, if not all 5, to make it.

There is no incoming DL class. Sawyer is in prep school, Wideman is headed there, and Thomas didn't qualify. McClain is enrolled but injured. Lamin was an EE and is already listed on the chart.
Our DE position unit has a few guys who would be good rotational players, but no one that stands out as a star. And the depth is pretty poor, as well. Our back-up WDE is Mason Harris. Our back-up SDE is a converted LB who to my knowledge has zero meaningful snaps at the DE position.

i was banned at cockytalk for making many of these points. apparently it's heresy to state the obvious over there.
we're going to give up a ton of point this year. hope the o can keep pace.

Questions about Brandon Sandifer... does he have a committable offer and do you have room for him?
Posted on 7/14/14 at 7:47 pm to CockInYourEar
Thnx.. visiting Tech Wednesday... I'll give it a 5% chance

Right on. If Sandifer wants to come to SC, he may need to jump on soon, we're filling up. I think OG Zack Bailey will commit to us by the end of September (maybe sooner) and I don't know how many other OL we are going to take. When Bailey commits, we'll have 4, and I don't know if we're wanting to use that last possible OL spot for a Tackle or Guard.

Dante Sawyer was added to the '15 Commitment List for SC today. He was originally a SC Commit for the '14 class, but new in January that he wasn't going to pass SC Admissions, so he enrolled in the Spring into East Mississippi CC.
SEC JUCO transfer rules state that a player must be at a JUCO 3 consecutive semesters (not counting Summer terms) in order to enroll at an SEC school. It was reported that Dante's Spring and Summer academic sessions went well, so 247 added him to SC Commitment list today. He is on track to enroll in Summer I next year.
Dante's Commitment moves the Gamecocks to #2 on 247's Site Rankings and #3 on the 247 Composite. The Gamecocks are already #2 on Rivals class rankings.
.....This further strengthens our shot at the July 2014 Recruiting National Championship, and since we already won the June 2014 Recruiting National Championship, we are now the favorites to win the Summer 2014 Recruiting National Championship. Seriously though, our recruiting over the Summer has been exceptional, we're really doing well.

Ty'son Williams just dropped Notre Dame from his list. It's between 3 schools now: USC, UNC, and UGA.

Yep, he said he 'wants to stay closer to home.'
