Subway 97 cent 6 inch meatball in 1997. They also did 98 cents in 98
Cheng Du lunch combo (meal, rice, egg roll or soup) was $4.95.
Checkers 99 cent Champ burger.

Didn't eat out that much. Mostly ate at home, but when we did...
BBQ House had a special, on Wednesday I think, of a chicken plate for something like $2.99.
After a long Saturday night, there was nothing quite like a Sunday lunch trip to the Hotel Talasi.
After the Supper Club closed for the night, a pilgrimage to the old Krystal on Magnolia for a Chili Bean Special (chili, two Krystals, fry, and drink) was a must.
Someone mentioned the hamburger po boy at the Cajun Creole Shack. Those things were awesome. There's a place in Atlanta that makes one that's good too.
Drunk Bus mentioned a Fry Daddy. We'd have seafood nights after a pay day. Someone would bring frozen shrimp, others would bring clams, scallops, fish, fries, hushpuppies and we'd get the Fry Daddy going.
There were also occasional trips to the Triangle for AYCE Shrimp.

Idk if it’s been talked about in here but just saw an article that said niffers is closing for good. That sucks.

I think it’s just the Opelika location that’s closing.
Pretty sure the O.G. Niffer’s is still alive & kicking (at least I certainly hope so)

When I worked for the Ath Dept between 07-09, I mainly ate at the dining hall at Sewell. They had really good meals there.
Auburn was the first place I had Jimmy John’s so got those a lot.

For some reason, we have never really lived in a area where we had any sub shops other than Subway. Now we have about everything you could ask for with in a 5min drive
Jimmy Johns is our favorite so far. Jersey Mikes are also awesome

Chanello's. Great Vesuvian sandwich(spicy meatball-Italian). Pizza was a staple too. That was weekend food. Had a meal plan at Little Henry's for the weekday meals. Really good biscuits/rolls at every meal.

Is there any place that does that anymore? I know Buffalos did that for a while. I remember getting wings for .25 on occasion not too long ago. Now, you are lucky if you get them for $1.50 each

That reminded me of my go to "make it myself" meal when I was in school. I would make some rice and then open a can of Castleberry's Brunswick stew, heat it and pour it over the rice.
The thought of that now makes me want to gag.

Used to eat Castleberry's Brunswick stew and the beef stew back in the day. A few months back, I got a can of it, added some pulled pork I cooked, some Foy's hot BBQ sauce, and a few other things and made a Q-stew that was very much like that served at the BBQ House.

couple of peppers chopped
Mix it all together and eat on that for a few days.
